Hentai and anime fans rejoice. Japanese home video distributor MediaBank has announced “Discipline – The Hentai Academy”, the first adult cartoon title ever to hit Blu-ray players.
I can’t include a link to a company or product site (the content is really hardcore stuff). The screenshot above shows Saori Otokawa, one of the protagonists of the series.
The complete series, which consists of six episodes, will be released in Japan in a “renewal mosaic” version (the delicate parts are pixelated) on January 30th. Fans will have to pay $90 for the Blu-ray (it’s a one-disc release) and can enjoy 180 minutes of Hentai fun.
In 2006, Discipline – The Hentai Academy was released in the USA by a company called Amorz (again, no link) on DVD so there is some hope the Blu-ray version makes its way to America as well.
This is a quite interesting move, especially as the adult film industry was the make or break deal for the vhs/betamax format wars. Blu-ray is a modern and destinctly japanese invention, as is Hentai.
Imagine the quality of viewing available on blu-ray and the sheer length of the content – not to mention the interactive multimedia options – all we need now is a wii style controller and this will fly off the shelves!
