Its not surprising to see this happen. When i go into Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.. prices are always way higher than if you buy the same thing online. Often i'll go into the store, check out a product, and then buy it from Amazon and save 25-50% .. I've been using this site to find some good deals online:

http://www.zingsale.com

It's a free service that tracks prices of products from online stores (like amazon) and sends you an email when the price drops.

I think that from 2002 to 2005 Circuit City ruled Manhattan. The Wiz the fomer hot retailer closed right after the union square store opened and for a time it seemed the city found its match, not to late after BestBuy opened and although they offer the same services more people came to BestBuy. It maybe because BB is more geared toward games and CC geared for PCs. The saga still continues as CompUSA recently closed and PC Richard a local retailer has opened large stores near BB locations... but every time I pass by its empty. Not to mention all the troubles at Radio Shack, good grief.
