What the industry complains about is one thing. Far worse is the impact illegal filesharing is having on low-profile or up-and-coming independent artists. None of them can afford big PR and/or mounting a tour (the last big cash-cow). Plus, with the industry now condoning subscription models, music is fast becoming a commodity that is expected to come in bulk, or for free. Nowadays, recording gods like Steely Dan would go bankrupt after one album or have to tour themselves silly. It's performance over creation, and that's unhealthy. More identikit boygroups/girlgroups/landfill indie anyone? Just be thoughtless, and keep filesharing.

Which do you think is more accurate: My estimate that 87% of all estimates by the RIAA/MPAA/IFPI are fiction, or their estimate that 95% of all music downloads are illegal?
