What digital shutternut doesn’t covet the Leica M8? It’s the pinnacle of compact digital cameras done up in the classiest digs. The latest color scheme, Safari, is damn fine look’n. The matte green body combined with the brushed silver accents are simply stunning and almost breathtaking. Plus, the green canvas and brown leather case completes the look ever so gracefully on the €7500,00 ($10,000 USD) camera and Summicron 28mm F2.0 bundle. The best looking digital camera available? Perhaps. More pics after the link.

The pictures are really cool.It looks too smart and descent. But it is so costly, I will have to see the features. – Internet Techies
Great lenses and a great operating concept (rangefinder) crippled by a grossly overpriced and obsolete implementation (M8). If Leica could shoehorn something in the class of the D3/D700’s sensor, even a 1.3x crop version, and sold it at a more reasonable price, it would be a winner and they would sell a ton.
People think this is nice looking? It looks like something out of the mid 80’s. And $10,000? How about…not.
What a minute!!??? People gushing over how a camera’s body _looks_?????? Excuse me???? Don’t you have a life or something??? What kind of spoiled mind is that? That’s the fruitiest thing I’ve heard in months. Design is cool but keep a balance. Remember there’s tons of suffering in the world and oggling over a camera body’s looks is well, selfish and trivial. Go get a real education, spoiled brat.
I’m always amazed and amused by these overpriced gadgets- $100K bicyles mades from whateverium or $3M watches with 50 complications, etc..- because it really reinforces the gap between rich and poor. I suspect the market or this camera is a lot smaller given all the hedge fund managers are no longer making multimillion bonuses.
For a realistic comparison between two cameras where the Leica is 10X more expensive, go here:

Leicas are vastly overpriced for what is finally produced.
What does a real education have to do with taste in classic camera looks? My job requires me to look at dozens of Canons, Nikons, Sony, and other random digital cameras everyday so it’s refreshing to see a model that doesn’t follow the same modern design. It’s retro but still modern. I like it.
