Here’s an iPod mount for your trusty sniper rifle — sure, why the hell not? I mean, the life of a sniper is mostly waiting, right? Might as well catch an episode of The Office or play a quick game of Sim City while you’re waiting for your target to emerge from his super secret meeting inside some fancy hotel.
Lest you think it’s all fun and games, Knights Armaments, the company that developed the mount, "contracted Runaway technologies to build an external ballistics calculator for the iPod Touch / iPhone named Bullet Flight," according to The Firearm Blog. “It is your standard ballistics application. You can set firearm / ammunition profiles, then call up the saved profile and enter your environment information, for example, distance, wind direction, elevation and temperature.”
The iPod is side-mounted on an M110 sniper rifle using a tough-as-nails Otterbox case (see our review here) and the Bullet Fight application costs $11.99 from the App Store.

Now this is an application that might actually make me want to buy an iPhone. My only concern is shock resistance of the iPhone to stand up to repeated shock from rounds in .308 or larger caliber. Iam pretty sure that a 50 Beowolf round will rock an iPhone hard enough that it will cause issues.
This has to be the coolest thing I have seen this week :)
I don’t suppose I will ever see one of these for my .444 Marlin Lever Action :(
U just never know lol
Believe it or not, they do make Picatinny rails for Marlin lever actions, so may be in luck Shawn.

Thanks for the info. That opens up quite a bit. Although I do love my ghost ring sight :)
Does the iPod take the input feed from a digital scope?
yes it does gets the data from the scope… via bluetooth! ;) sorry … just playing witcha.
it looks like all sensors are onboard with the exception of the distance which can be manually acquired from the scope…???
Steve from The Firearm Blog here.
Just for your info. The closest civilian equivalent rifle , the SR-25 from KAC, costs about $9000. Add in the scope, maybe $1000-2000 and you have a very expensive package.
The M110 is a system (although we all refer to the rifle as the M110), the complete system would cost a lot more and includes components not available to civilians.
Running this on an inauguration day where we witnessed countless security forces (including snipers) deployed to protect our president seems like a stupid and juvenile move to me.
“Because you have to kill this guy…” Violent death isn’t a joke.
I never insinuated violent death — you’re reading way too far into it.
How do you know the sniper’s not waiting for the guy to leave the hotel so he can shake his hand, announce his retirement, and tell him it’s been nice working with him?
Don’t be such a douchecake.
who doesn’t want the president dead ?
darn patriots!
haha just kidding… you people take things too seriously.
XD
sincerely,
i’m not a babylonian
p.s. violence is not a joke and don’t blow my secondary email up anyone… please!?
Because you originally said “Because you have to kill this guy,” that’s why.
I’m glad you changed that, but don’t pretend you didn’t write it.
Seriously, learn to use the reply button, you half-witted buffoon.
Opps. It’s still there in the promo:
“Because Sometimes You Have to Wait A Long Time for Your Mark – No more long, boring stakeouts for you would-be assassins. This handy iPod mount for your sniper rifle will let you watch some YouTube, play a game, or check out the scores at the game you’re missing because you have to kill this guy.”
You’re right; that doesn’t insinuate violent death. It comes straight out and says it.
quite being a bitch.
I owe you an apology; the item I quoted above is from another blog that links to yours.
I still find joking about snipers inappropriate, but you’re right about the insinuation,
We sit here on our asses today in front of our computers whining like hungry infants about petty crap, partly due to the talent and determination of our American soldiers…including our snipers. You do realize that there were probably hundreds of snipers working on the rooftops in D.C. to PROTECT President Obama on Inauguration Day, do you not?
Regardless, the phrase in question was hyperbolic to add humor. Why don’t you respect the tastes of others, even if they don’t run concurrent with yours. That is, after all, a notion that our country was founded upon.
Yes rooftops because the best place for a sniper to be is out in the open in the most obvious place.
Get a life !
POINTLESS!
OH NO INTERNET BABIES
I would love that on my M40
I’m going to get one of these bitches for my crosman pellet gun.
Anyone else think this might see application in a Future Warrior style system? Next we’ll see the XM29 with a touch screen to set the airburst distance, or have your scope hooked up to your iPhone so you can shoot around a corner or over cover without having to expose anything more than your hands.
Of course you know that is not a true sniper rifle. At least I hope you do. That is a civilain variation of either an M16 or an M4. Big diffrence.
Any rifle is a sniper rifle when put in the hands of a sniper. It’s not like if i had to take someone down and only had my .270 hunting rifle I would be all “oh darn I guess I can’t shoot him, I didn’t bring the right rifle.”
Congratulation another weapon the terroist now can use to get a perfect shot, then again it can also be used the other way around.
Hmmmmmmm! So about were ,do I go to buy me one of these badass mother goatherders? Only for shooting some cans made of tin you understand!!
***S T A N D S BY W A I T I N G FOR F L A K***
no no youve got it all wrong. its clearly a mount for a sniper rifle onto the iphone. not the iphone onto a sniper rifle. duh!
Wander what you’ll be wishing when your prez plunges your country into a bigger recession than you have right now.
Following Mugabwe’s lead and printing trillions of fiat dollars is not the answer to your very real and going to get a lot worse woes
Seems like a sniper would want to give 100% of their attention to their target and not an ipod??? But thats just my opinion…
Sign me up for testing! I’m willing to strap on more thing onto my AR-15
