The PlayStation folks have just posted a quick note about the upcoming update to the PS3, v2.6. This particular update will enhance the media features of the game console. One of the new ‘key features’ is the Photo Gallery app that just sorts your images in various ways based on camera used, event date, time, etc.
Lame, I know, but there’s more.
The 2.60 update also includes:
Guest access to PlayStation Store – This enables non-PlayStation Network members to browse through the storefront to check out the latest games, demos, videos, etc.
DivX 3.11 support – Videos in this format can now be played on PS3.
How about supporting .mov playback! That would be usefull.

From The Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Developers at the conference were able to confirm that firmware v2.70 is coming this week. It just reached the hands of developers yesterday.
