Much as I appreciate you taking the time to do this set of reviews I CANNOT agree with you about your review of the Navigon 8100T.
I have owned several different units by now, and two of my cars have had proprietary systems built-in, and I have found this Navigon to be SUPERB.
I’ve had mine for many months now, and it’s still like new. It’s a solid well-built unit and doesn’t seem to “take a beating at all” (unlike one of the Garmin products I owned).
The Navigon (8100T) is quick and responsive – more accurate than my wifes Toyota built-in GPS.
And contrary to your experience with the mounting arm, mine has been that it’s a really robust design, that has charged my unit, and held my unit securely over some pretty bumpy surfaces.
So it really is a case of each to their own, but my Navigon is AWESOME!

We know it is a pretty simple installation project, but as this mount is a little pricey for what it actually does, we thought we would post a series so readers can better decide if they really want to spring for the ProClip system.

I just bought the Navigon 8100T but I live and work in Germany and I have not been able to find or update the U.S. maps to the European maps. Can anyone tell me how I can update it to the European maps?

Update for the above:

On the 8100T, the street names ARE displayed in the 3D map view, just not in the 3D terrain view.

Unlike the above review, I’ve not had any 8100T recallibration issues.

Navigon updates their maps and software frequently.. I’ve already updated the map info once since Christmas and currently do not see any text-in-boxes issues to complain about.

Amazed to read that one of the most sold PND`s in the European market is being burned down like this but looks like the US software isn`t that good :) Anyway, I love my European edition

I have a 7100 with Zagat and lifetime Traffic. I want to love it but don’t because the menus aren’t intuitive, the buttons are small, and the Windows OS is a crippler. Ditto on the giant mount. Darn thing jiggles a lot too. Shame.
