Fancy listening to Backspin on your iPhone? Or maybe you’d like to hear the comedy stylings of Christian Jimmy on The Virus? Soon, friends. Soon. Supposedly. On the way to the App Store, the uSirius StarPlayr, an iPhone app that lets you listen to Sirius XM on your iPhone. Fancy that.
The application has been in development for some time, and the word over at Orbitcast is that it will be submitted to Apple for approval by January 31. Considering there’s no “boobs and booty” here, I can’t see the approval process lasting too long. It’s up to Apple.
So now CBS Radio and Pandora will have a little competition. The question now becomes, how long will radio, as a business, be around? (Three months.)
Yes, we’re a little late on this new; I blame the economy, which is a convenient escapegoat for all of life’s problems.

Christian Jimmy was a riot. Jim Norton has really grown on me since I had Sirius add the Best of XM to my radio for being a loyal subscriber. I grew up listening to O&A in Boston though, and is it just me or has the show gotten really, really gay? I’m not saying that in a derogatory way, they’re actually doing bits about guys licking each other and making out. What happened to women on radio shows??? In any case, not as funny as I remember it being, which is sad.
Still funny though, ALMOST makes up for Lithium going down the bathroom tubes. I heard the Barenaked Ladies on there the other day and almost lost it. (updated since filter blocked out profanity in last post, hope it doesn’t post twice).
This app is what I have been waiting for. It’s why I have an Iphone. There is nothing on the app store that will beat this if your a subscriber to the App Store.
Now the price is what’s scaring me. If it goes the route of Window’s mobile version it will most likely be 9.99 to 14.99. My bet is on the 14.99 price tag.
Consider that xm/sirus just annouced that they are going to start charging for online listening, this app is worthless. It uses your online login to work. So you have to pay for this app, and then pay xm/sirus 2.99 a month for online account streaming for it to work.
I just want to know when the stock is going to pop. I love the price as a purchase now. I want to make big money off this one.
You will get wiped out on the stock… In this climate they will not be able to raise funds to continue paying the bills. I hope I am wrong since I have been holding the stock for a couple of years now (huge % loss).
Linger Shorter!
Such idiotic review.
SiriuxXM will go under after Stern leaves the show. That is clear. To the moron with Sirius stock: After Howard resigns for 5 or 10 more years the stock will go up again and you?
SELL! SELL!
For now hold on to is because it worth shit
Pizza!
Sirius was great when it started but now it’s just regular radio without as many commercials.
They just don’t seem to get it. The music play lists used to be huge, now they are just the top 20 of whatever era/genre you’re listening to. After a few hours you’ve heard everything and nothing new shows up for a while.
Also they don’t have an ADULT Alternative station. What they have is way to manic to be able to listen to while working. It doesn’t make me feel like I want to get that spreadsheet done, no, it makes me feel like I want to punch someone randomly.
Oh I forgot to say that for a GOOD adult alternative station check out the adult alternative station from Music Choice. It’s the free digital radio you get with a lot of cable services like Cox, Brighthouse/Roadrunner/Timewarner.
That station is the best station on the face of the planet. I have bought 3 full albums and a few songs off iTunes just from hearing new music I’d never heard before because I just can’t listen to the garbage that’s on old fashioned broadcast radio.
