You’re at the in-laws or a friend’s house. Someone mentions that their computer is broken. Do you go and fix it just to get out of a conversation you don’t want to be in?

  • I’ll do, pretty much, anything that will get me out of boring conversation.

So, yes, I’ve jumped on the opportunity to tech support something on a number of occasions. I’ll especially jump on it if my in-laws are involved.

  • Well…. its complicated with me.

I’d say yes, but I usually agree to tech support even if it isn’t really an escape. Pretty much its only my friends and family who ask, so I willingly agree even if it was out of nowhere and I wasn’t doing anything.

Granted though, I AM pretty damn bored at home so maybe it is an escape and I don’t even really realize it.

  • B-b-b-but be careful about rickety, crazy old systems. I mean the ones with discontinued software, antivirus that expired in June 2002, etc.

A few keystrokes and you may “own” the system and its myriad problems. You’ll be forever listening to your mother-in-law bray about how “everything worked fine until you touched it!”
