Windows 7 has proven to be an excellent scaler, as it seems to run excellently not just on top-end hardware but on hardware so outdated as to be laughable. This U560 UMPC, which I’m sure is an excellent little machine for playing King’s Quest IV on, actually worked quite well with 7 despite only sporting a 600MHz Atom A100 processor. I’m beginning if I’ll be able to run 7 on my GP2X or Pandora!

too bad windows 7 is just as unstable as vista and unsecure as XP
Too bad you’re full of crap.
Windows seven is not as unstable as vista. And it’s security if fine. If you want better security. Get a better anti virus. And I’m all for trying it on a game gear LOL. Or better yet a Psp
What I really want to know is: How well can Windows 7 run Android? It’s all the rage.
Sometimes I wonder about people like “gryphyn” At any rate this is an interesting clip however to my knowledge the A100 processor is not part of the Atom family. In tests i’ve seen the a100 is a pretty slow cpu that windows 7 can run on it says a lot about the tweaks MS has made.
Good call. The source article said Atom so I trusted them, but a quick googling shows that the A100 was a Pentium M predecessor of Atom. Thanks for keeping us honest.
Good to see that Win7 isn’t the bloatware that Vista was…they probably heard all the loud complaints about Vista requiring a monster system to really run it properly.
I guess windows 7 is not out yet right??
Not every 100Mhz processor is equal to other 100Mhz processors in pure processing power. Intel x86 processors are crap mostly because they need higher frequencies to be as powerful as their competitors.
