Then you should move to Tokyo! Am I missing something here? I stumbled across this Mac reseller in Akihabara while I was looking for the kitten café and my jaw dropped when I saw how much these 15-year-old machines were selling for. That 1.25GHz machine is going for roughly $1224. That’s ridiculous, right?

  • Hmm the Powermac G4s in that display are not 15 years old. Those are the Mirror Dual Drive Powermacs, which were released in August 2002, with an update released in early 2003.

They are still very powerful and capable machines, although very noisy. And I thought the Xbox 360 was noisy!

  • Indeed, if you could have gotten dual 1Ghz plus machines in *1994*, then Windows 95 wouldn’t have been a problem. Just a wee bit of hyperbole (like, off by a factor of 2)?

Still excessive, unless the Japanese have some burning need for OS 9.

  • I have a 1.8Ghz G5. Can I get $2k for it!?
