A quick update to last week’s story on uSirius StarPlayr. It seems the app was submitted to Apple yesterday (while dozens of people, including Matt, apparently, were watching the Super Bowl), which means we have a certain amount of time till we grab it—somewhere around two to four weeks.
The app is expected to cost $12.99, but it’s a one-time price. That is, you pay that once, and you’ll never have to pay for upgrades or anything like that.
I’m not an iPhone guy, so maybe Greg or Peter will be able to try it out when it hits.

Did you pull the 2 to 4 weeks out of your butt? Or is this something you know?
Out of his butt. Simcity was posted within 48 hours of being submitted.
I’ve been listening to Sirius on my iPhone for awhile now, streaming from my home PC. Tools needed are uSirius, TVersity and an optional dynamic IP client to tie my dynamic IP to a domain. Works great.
$12.99??? Thats ridiculous. If im already a subscriber wont I be able to get it for free? I should be able to, whats the point of it then? I guess I would just cancel my subscrition and listen to it through my phone. This pricing scheme makes no sense at all.
You will have to enter your account information into the app in order to listen. So if you cancel your subscription, and get the app, you still won’t be able to listen.
$12.99? What a rip off. Should be $0.99
I will wait until is hacked and available for free.
Please don’t steal our software. Countless man hours have gone into this app. Many who have tested it say it should be $19.99.
At $12.99, it is still 10% the cost of a Stiletto.
There is a typo in this article. Minr/point updates will be free (1.1.1, 1.1.2).
Major upgrades (2.0, 3.0) will cost extra.

I’ve been DYING for this app since I got my iPhone. What’s the hold-up? Apple has had it for weeks. Can we PLEASE get an update.
Yea it might be 10% the cost of a stiletto but my phone was 200% the cost. I pay $12 for sirius and despite their reassuring everyone that the merger would make things cheaper now I have to pay for the internet version.
I won’t be buying this and if its not free or if my subscription doesnt get cheaper I wont be a member for long.
Starting march you will have to pay extra to listen over the Internet it won’t be free. Guess I will have to sell some possium skins to pay for it since Sirius can’t do it for free cause they pay Howard 300 mill a year!!
I’ll pay the 12.99 no problem, better than 200 for a stilleto if you ask me
I think 12.99 is a fair price for the app as long as it works. I do not agree that we need to pay for internet radio as of March. That is BS, but i will pay it for my sanity an work. and if I can get Sirius on my Iphone!! that would be great!
Look forward to it!
those of you whining about $13 have been drinking too much of grandpa’s cough medicine. this is a bargain. baba booey! baba booey!
I’m a Sirius subscriber and I have both an iPhone and a Stiletto. I’m so sick of Sirius it’s not even funny. Every 3 months or so my antenna on top of my car malfunctions and I have to find a new one. I’m quite happy with listening to Pandora through my car speakers. So Sirius’s days are numbered…
Whaaaa. I have to pay 13 bucks, one time. Pay it or write your own app. Oh, that’s right, you can’t. Of course if you renew your subscription by march 11, I think,, you don’t have to pay for streaming anyway. Bunch of freeloaders, like Jeff the drunk if you ask me.
And Stern is probably the only talent on either network that has paid for himself in ad revenue and subscribers. Dump some of the people who don’t pull their own weight (Oprah), and once the economy picks up it will be fine.
Actually I can but you can’t get radio streams with out working with Sirius. We pay for the service why do we need to pay for the app?
You’re clearly a stern fan. Remember when they interviewed Mel and he promised that this merger was better for the subscribers and things would get cheaper? Well they haven’t made a pick your own plan yet, they’re charging for internet now, and now you need to pay for this. And yes you’ll need to pay for internet the next time you renew even if you made March 11 deadline.
They’re a ripoff and stern isn’t worth it
Anyone have any idea of when it’s out? I’d buy it for 20 bucks even.
Well here we are…still waiting. HURRY UP! Been waiting on this forever.
seriously what is taking so long??? almost makes me feel like apple is just sitting on the app and not releasing it
Can’t wait! 13.00 isn’t bad at all … Why should it be practically free? I’m happy that someone has put the time and effort to bring this to us and atleast make some money in doing so. Geez.
Why are people complaining about the price? Just don’t buy it. End of story. Also stop complaining about what Sirius pays stern. Let’s think about this – six hundred thousand subscribers before stern, four million after the first year. This is pre-merger of course. Sirius needs to get rid of people that bring in next to zero subscriptions like oprah, jamie foxx, etc. I have never heard these celeb’s promote Sirius. They would be better off hiring actual radio DJ talent. Enough of my rant just bring on this dam app already.
$12.99 is so worth it, even if Pandora starts charging, and we cancel it, XM/ Sirius is a great substitution. Finally something Howard Stern didn’t invent! good job guys, can’t wait for it
Sirius is way behind the ball with this app. I’ve had three radios that all went to the trash within a year each. I only listen via the internet because I refuse to buy another radio. If they take that away or charge more I may have to cancel my two subscriptions. AOL radio is a great app. I carry it in my shirt pocket and listen via the speaker. It works very well and they have some decent content… For Free. I have too much worthless stock in Sirius. Mel K better do the right thing and this company going. He is not worth the tens of millions he makes to run the company. You watch… Howard Stern won’t be available on the Iphone.
your so right..i was listening to sirius on the net…because a 3rd radio broke(made in china). Actually the antenna broke on number 2 and it cost just as much to replace it as it was to buy an new radio. I have been w/o a radio for months just listening to howard on line now i think im going to cancel because i dont want to pay more .. and aol radio is actually better – much more stations and genres
Is the app going to keep playing when accessing other iPhone features? That is the main downfall of all other music apps I have used. (Except of course iTunes).
So…is the app going to be released or not???
yes, let me know if the app will work when you use the other features. if it does, great, if not, can you make it so?
that is the downfall of the music apps.
Thnks for making this app
so you buy an iphone, $200 if you bought the new one, thats going to run about $70 a month for the cell subscription. then you buy sirius radio, around $100 for a decent one, and $12 a month for that subscription. so after spending $300 in hardware and $82 a month, $13 for an app that combines the two is too much money? you dont want to spend the extra $$$ for the gps in your aston martin. if you dont think its worth $13 than dont buy it, if you want it but cant afford it, then you probably shouldnt have bought an iphone. stop complaining. and where the hell is it already?
Is bankruptcy what is holding this app up?
So, what doesn’t Apple like about this app?? What’s the holdup?
Check out this update from 2/26…I dunno, something’s hinky about this.
http://usirius.starplayr.com/
I don’t really care who provides me with an app that I can listen to my Sirius subscription with. I just want to be able to listen. I had it with my WM5/6 devices for free but I am willing to pay for it. I don’t like being jerked around and I feel that apple is doing so or at least playing both ends against the middle. They need to get off their posterior and announce their intentions.
Seems like Sirius contacted Apple and blocked the approval of this application so they can develop and sell their own or make it available for free on APP STORE. But I don’t care. $12.99 is too expensive so I would not buy this anyway, again 99 cents is fair.
You guys should forget about apple approving this. It will never happen.
Secondly, Sirius is gonna continuously update their streaming address and software to make this StarPlayer not work.
My take is to you, sell it or make it free thru CYDIA Store, at least you can make some money and you can make your app available out there immediately.

Sirius is good. The app is worth 6.00 dollars
Most media companies are having problems right now. Howard did attract a lot of customers to sirius. I personally don’t listen to him, but many do and its the actions of the many that create the need. Everybody quit being so cheap….You don’t want to go to work for free so why do you expect a group of guys writing software to work free?
Starplayr went over like a lead balloon, there is a new app on the app store called ‘Pocket Tunes’ that works awesome!! No connection to home PC required!!
You can download pocket tunes. It plays everything INCLUDING xm and Sirius and it’s 10$! Works great too!
Pocket Tunes does it now for $10.00

wow, its time to officially give up on this app.
12.99 monthly + 3.99 radio streaming + 12.99 app = $30 for radio?!?! Radio that is looped on many stations.
Sirius XM maybe losing a customer is they don’t real in their pricing strategy. They need to seriously take a step back and find another way to reduce their debt obligations than charging $30 for their service over the iphone.
OK so this news story hit Feb 2nd? It’s May 5th, Where is it? How do I get it?
Let me know
