As announced yesterday, Peter Ha is currently in Japan and we are very impressed with the response to the CrunchGear/TechCrunch meetup idea in Tokyo so far. The meetup will take place tomorrow, February 3.
Please make sure to email me (serkan at techcrunch com) if you want to join. If more people than announced come (which is very likely), we need to improvise heavily – I made a reservation for 50+ people on short notice.
Time:
Tuesday, February 3 from 8pm-10pm
(possibly with a nijikai/2nd drinking session afterwards at the same venue or somewhere near)
Venue:
“Beer Station Ebisu” in Ebisu Garden Place
4-20 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
Nearest station: Ebisu (5 minutes walk)
Info/Map:

Reservation under “TechCrunch”.
The place has Wifi – so please live-blog and tweet as much about the meetup as you can.

I wish I was in Tokyo :(
I wish I didn’t live in Gunma!!
It probably goes without saying, but don’t have the schitnzel there. It isn’t very good.
Ya, I wish I was in Tokyo as well. I’m a bit of a japanophile…
Curious to know TC’s definition of “meeting.” My read is Ha is visiting friends and family, and using it as opportunity to mislead and claim TC is international.
I too am currently in a meeting—with everyone else here at the IHOP. Eating pancakes and all…
Uh, “Meetup”. As in “Reader Meetup”. As in what we do whenever we travel abroad in order to get to know our readers near and far.
Don’t hate just to hate, chump.
yeah, but people don’t WANT to meet with you in your IHOP. big difference.
are you also planning to meet in bangalore?
Will definitively try to make it! Great idea!
I’ll try to make it too! It’ll be nice to meet you guys overthere.
OK, the venue is totally full with people interested in coming. I just hope we can squeeze everyone in.
Thank you very much for your interest. Peter and I look forward to seeing you tonight!
See you there! In addition to tweeting, I’ll hopefully have a live photostream going if anyone is interested:

See you all tonight!
Bleh, left early. Apparently, they’re charging 4000yen to get in now.
Ebisu Beer Station is a restaurant, and regular customers can go in and get a beer for $10, which is what I was planning to do. But for this occasion, they made it a special 2 hour all-you-can-drink event.
Given that most people aren’t gonna go there expecting that, I think it’s going to turn off a lot of people… Should’ve planned this at a more casual bar.
well said Azurewolf.
Thought maybe I was just being cheap, but I did not feel like paying for this either.
If a web site had a hidden service cost of $50 and wasted the user’s time before disclosing the charge then that service would be rightly criticised on these pages.
Why would a TC meet-up not provide a professional level of information disclosure ? time; location; cost (in a range if TBD)
Wish i’d known about this earlier ….. will try and go to the next one.
I wish I knew this before.. I live in Tokyo :(
