Rapid Repair is now selling a 1.8-inch Toshiba hard drive with 240GB of storage spread across two platters. The drive costs $319.99 and will only work in iPod Video devices.

The drive spins at 4,200RPM and must be self-installed or you can have Rapid Repair install it for you. Either way, you’ll void the warranty but, hey, that’s a lot of gigabytes.

The drive itself is currently out of stock, but you can give Rapid Repair your e-mail address and wait patiently for the drive to become available again.

  • I wouldn’t mind if Apple built an iPod Touch around that drive. Never happen. Besides you’d end up with an iPod that would cost twice the price of a common netbook. Still, that’s some excellent advance in technology.

  • $300 a little steep but I’m sure the price will fail significantly. It may be a good idea to combine this upgrade with a new battery.

  • I so can’t wait for the 60 GB HD in my iPod video 5 G to die so as I can replace it with this baby. Hopefully by then the price will have dropped. I have been out of space on my 60 for a couple fo years now, and cannot justify a 120….
