Sometimes you just need a little doohickey to prop your phone up at a certain angle – nothing more, nothing less. Sure, you could use pencils and rubber bands but if you want more of an elegant, streamlined look and you have six dollars, then you have other options.
These stands from Innovation Wednesday simply hold the USB cord of your G1 or iPhone at two different angles based on which side you’ve turned them on. You plug your phone into its cable and it’ll sit there all landscape-y. That’s it. They’re six bucks apiece.
Here’s a video, which is nice because it’d be hard to wrap our heads around this concept without some sort of demonstration.

My iTouch came with a stand like that, dont iphones have the same?
This is a very clever idea, but if you want a much thinner stand that doesn’t require a cable check out the iBend, myibend.com
How do you get the display to show the time like that?
I use on of these http://www.myibend.com/ for my iPhone. I has the size and basic shape of a credit card and I keep it in my wallet. Definitely not as sturdy as review, but always on me :-)
This one is really cool.

I’ve been using mine for a while now and it holds my iPhone in place on even the bumpiest of flights and even on my dashboard so my niece can watch movies in the car. I like to leave my iPhone in it to charge at night, too. Gives me easy access to the clock whenever I need it.
