Dan Borislow,

I'm puzzled with your postings. Why don't you have space after your 'periods' and your 'commas'? It makes it hard to read your posting. For some strange reason many postings on the net from India are the same way as well. I know your [space bar] button is working, orelseyourwritingwillbelikethis.

Translation: ' or else your writing will be like this'.

Just like it is rude to WRITE IN ALL CAPS, I think it a common courtesy to your reader to at least place a space after periods and commas. Thanks.

I used to love Magicjack. After the 1st year, i bought 5 additional years. About 6 months or so into the 5 year deal I bought, I started having choppy voice quality issues. I have researched and resolved most of them, as well as resorted to the MagicJack Chat line. I currently have only 1 remaining issue: choppy voice quality on outgoing calls. Incoming calls are fine. I've purchased a the HBB1 QOS network device and I'm currently awaiting shippment. I hope that it will make a difference!

Customer service is everything when it comes to a service of any kind. I have had the MJ for over a year. It has saved us money but customer service is poor at best. If you can put up with that and muddle through to find solutions and ignore most of what customer service tells you, then you will be fine.

I would not suggest my friends use this service without them knowing all the details and letting them know it is not the whole answer for phone service - have a back-up.

Having said that. You know your landline even if turned off is able to dial 911 for help. Keep your cell phone handy when this thing goes down and it will from time to time on a regular basis.

Best of luck to you!

Me too! Works perfectly. I have a pretty clean four year old Dell that was the cheapest computer in the Dell line. I did buy a powered hub, based on comments I've heard on various BB's

I stumbled upon this product in my country and have been using it to call the us for over 3wks in april 2009, now I am in the usa in alot of states and this is my cell phone, I have installed it on every household pc or laptops I encountered without no hassel. I havve been following the blogs and realise that the product is good and not tech support, I have tested tech support a couple of times not for hardware problems but charging as it relates to international bill on a debit card and I got conflicting answers> But all in all I have recommend this product to alot of americans and canadians as it does what the ad says and yes u dot ave to ave ur pc on if u r on the road as u can forward it to ur cell if u have one or ur friends whose company u will be in for the remainder of the day or time. They just need to sort out a few bugs like the fact that I found out it freezes when I try to start easy cd creator 10, but sometime other software behave likewise. Remember this is computer we are talking about. Asuggestion about ethernet port in it is a good one Don and I am now a reseller of this product as it wis a good one and will savealot of people money. I have push this rpoduct to the limit in terms of testing it and it has stand up. I have been assembling, servicing and repairing computers for over 15 yrs so I know what I am talking about.

I don't know what to say here. I've heard so many negative reviews but the truth is I've never had a problem with MJ.

For $20 bucks a year, their should be no one complaining. I'm going to be purchasing the 5 year plan before the pricing goes up and everyone figures this is a good deal.

Works great for me. I bought it when it first came out and i had some problems with voice quality and sent it back. I bought another a month ago and it works fine. Clean computer and fast internet are key. Also you can turn off your computer and foward the calls to your cell or let voicemail take it. So you save electricity too.

I have been using the MJ for about 6 months and I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. it was cheap to buy (not much of a loss even if it didn't work, the possible gain outweighed the risk IMO). I got a local number in the city I live in, almost every call I've made or received has been crystal clear (sound quality is just as good as land-line, and far better than my VZW cell).

when I first plugged it in, I wasn't able to register it (received error message instead of registration screen). I used the live chat support and my issue was resolved in less than 2 minutes. yes, the response they gave was a simple cut-n-paste but that was all I needed. I don't understand why some people get so upset about the chat-based support. what is so much better about a phone call? why do some people feel the need to hear a stranger's voice? US-based tech support is almost non-existent anywhere these days. if the company is going to outsource their tech support, then I actually prefer the chat-based system (heavy accents make it difficult to understand them over the phone, but I can read their text without any confusion or the need to ask them to repeat constantly).

with regards to "replacing" a land-line; this seems to be a generational issue. 'older' generations that lived most of their lives without a cellphone seem to think that a traditional phone company based land line is an basic necessity of life. 'younger' generations who either grew up with cellphones or quickly adopted the use of cellphones don't feel that a land line is really necessary. if you already use your cellphone as your primary phone, then a land line is just a luxury. for years I didn't have a land line because I couldn't justify the ridiculous rates the phone companies charge for them. the MJ has become my land line, nobody I call or who calls me on it cares that it's VOIP (it sounds and works just as good as a regular land line).

I bought this last year and find it useless for making and receiving calls because of the poor quality, HOWEVER -- it is perfect for forwarding calls from the magicjack number to my cell phone or my spouse's with the click of a mouse. I just wish I could figure out how to make it autolaunch on my intel imac every time the computer restarts without my having to doubleclick it each time!

magicJack was sold on QVC for a very short time. It was then removed from their website completely. Their customer service couldn't tell me why the info was no longer available. Did they have lots of returns? - QVC doesn't leave junk on their site, but won't comment if those items are deleted. If the sales were positive, there would be reviews by customers on the website.
And for Dan, it is worrisome that he doesn't use spellcheck, learn the difference between their and there etc. Very bad letter writing for a CEO. As in running a company, it's the details, details, details!
