I spend hey probably (during the summer) well over 31h's a week, most day's are 10h a day doing various things from youtube, blog's, wiki, music, msn, WoW and other interests.
It certainly does go down from summer hours to school hours, i have much less time to do stuff online from when I get home to when i go to bed.
In the summer i would say that i spend about 3-5h a day which is the average.
My opinion on whether this is good for me or not. I would say it does develop bad habits but teenagers are curious. While browzing google, young teen girls might be interested to know about implants, or other teens in drugs, world news (poverty, wars..etc). I'm say that this time is not wasted at all. It can be very educational, its what brought me to this thread.
There does come a point when it is addiction to the computer, and computer's should never be a substitute for real life communication. Thats why we have school. thats about 6h a day where you probably talk to more people throughout your day than most adults. I don't see how what we do at home affects our social lives. This is probably the case where i would say school isn't totaly useless.

i am a 17 year old male.
I spend around 5-7 hours or more a night weekdays, and then for a weekend i could be on from when i wake up till when i go to bed. That might be around 24 hours - 30 hours on a weekend.
So for my week i could be spending around
56-68 hours a week on my computer. thats pretty normal for me.
at the same time too i might be on my 360, watching tv/dvds or playing my DS.
Life is good.

My kid was a die-hard WOW player. He was playing for 13 hours a day (10 of them at night, we didn't know). When I figured out, I understood that we have to do something. If you have kids that are on the computer and/or Internet for any length of time, you know that getting them to log off can be quite a chore. Thanks god, there are a variety of Internet filtering tools available, so every parent could find software for controlling Internet usage of their kids. The one I use is Ez Internet Timer

I like the way you think!

But I think it's crazy that people who don't get the internet age want to scrutinize it and say that people are getting fat because they are consumed with using the internet, not realizing that they spend an equal amount of time watching tv or being lethargic in some other way. Using the internet is a much more productive and controlled use of my time, where I choose what I see without interruption. To do that with the tv you have to pay more money to avoid commercials LoL

I spend atleast 5 hours a day on the internet just for school. Seeing as I do an online shool program. I don't think it is neccessarliy bad to be on the internet for 30 hours a week. What is bad is when people make it their lives. When people get so involved in games like Second Life or World of War Craft, that they foret about their lives. Their real lives. That is when thing get bad. When you don't have a life and you have to make one online.

I'm starting to see how a teenager might compromise the security of their parent's or the family's computer. 30+ hours of week or mostly just messing around with a couple hours of.. less productive activities on less than secure sites. Teens (and most adults a like) should spend some of those 31 hours on www.justaskgemalto.com to keep their computers secure.

Probably about eight hours in total for me - three at work and five at home at night. I blame broadband for this - it just wasn't worth the hassle with dial up.
