By the way, if someone has knowledge of how these companies work specifically, I'm a bit curious about something.

Apple released the iPhone and then BB launched the Storm, Palm has announced/displayed the Pre, and MS is apparently going to debut something next week.

I assume that Apple had been working on this for a while, maybe 4-5 years? It might have not all been what we know now as the iPhone, but whatever the idea was prior to this, my guess is that they've been thinking about this for a while.

With these new products that are trying to compete (Pre, Storm, and the MS phone potentially), have the companies been working on them for years just like Apple and it just happened to be that Apple made it to market first or did they see the iPhone and use it like everyone else before they made their own?

I wonder if this is related to their investment in Facebook (apart from search rights or whatever they said publicly. It might be interesting to see a phone with Facebook integrated a bit more closely - contact list generated from it, maybe use it as a platform for applications as well, have photos get uploaded instantly to Facebook from the phone's camera, etc.?

I don't have a clear idea on it but it might offer a possibility for Facebook to generate some revenue.

Our communication methods are growing and being used a lot more on the internet and so I expect to see something a little out of the ordinary, not just a phone trying to be like the iPhone and then falling short.
