Doug Aamoth reporting from Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts. Today in the B terminal I saw some good-looking New England Patriots cheerleaders, a good-looking Maria Menounos, and then everything went all haywire when two guys in bumblebee tutus showed up followed by Richard Branson dressed like a patriotic psychiatrist’s wet dream.
Check out the video above and the photos below for all the delightful hoopla. Virgin will be flying three daily roundtrips between LA and Boston and two daily roundtrips between San Francisco and Boston with Wi-Fi on every flight and fares starting at $109.

lolwat.
This should be good for competition and prices
What a marketing genius, still manages to have fun. Props to Branson.
def a marketing genius. Sure knows how to get attention!
Sir Branson often reminds me of our old good Stevie – but he’s not THAT posh as Stevie (even though he’s Sir), and certainly he’s having muuuuch more fun :)
Sir Branson. You are Awesome!
Richard Branson’s a douchebag.
I’m pretty confident, ANYONE could write and report for the techcrunch network.
I ran home to print out my ticket for Twistup 5 tonight only to find out it’s tomorrow. See you there.
Who cares. Eventually you find out people don’t have their high positions because of skill, they have them because of affluence. There are a few notable exceptions.
Skill != awesome job
Hey I know ___ == awesome job
Welcome to California, where Paris Hilton is news and people sail on yachts for a living.
And I’m pretty confident Jason that you are a D-Bag.
And that is relevant to tech how?
And wow the douche factor of T$ writers keeps increasing exponentially… I agree pretty much anyone can write for T$
It’s relevant because all flights in and out of Boston are Wi-Fi-enabled.
careful, you’ll increase the douche factor!
Damn.
…and life can’t be fun, because…
Yeah, wow. Sorry to keep all you Masters of Enterprise from reading serious tech news this late at night. I can almost hear your eyes twitching.
Doug, it’s 8:51 right now, it was 8PM when you made the post.
They’re right, this was a dumb article. I’ve been reading TC for years. I know.
Remember that time that Duncan Riley posted an article about a pageflakes competitor and it turned out to be a $99 script from hotscripts.com. This is right up there with that.
You should be more like Schonfeld.
Your fly’s open.
Buwahahahaaa! Nice. LOL.
Go take a nap, Chris. You’re embarrassing yourself, you big baby.
Is anybody from TC going to be at Twistup tomorrow night?
BTW, I ate here tonight
http://www.misteryen.com/
It’s extremely greasy. Just a warning. Grease was dripping out of the bottom of the boxes. literally, soaking the bag. If you are in LA on business, consider that. The way TC is going maybe you guys could review Mister Yen as well.
$109? thats great but how much after the surcharge and all the other hidden fares?
who has actually taken a flight for that travel time for 109 bones?
SRB has been busy. He was just in Australia a couple days ago… He was starting up VAustralia, which is going to go head-to-head against Quantas; flying Sydney to LA and Seattle.
So, Virgin Group seems like it is the only around-the-world airline company.
Damn. Why did he dressed up like that? I guess ?I had a very wrong image about this man in my mind.
And it’s a complete nonsense to post in a Techblog.
Thanks for this article, why are people moaning so much? Variety is good and I assume they posted it due to the tech factor virgin planes have e.g. wifi etc
So if I start a coffee shop with Wifi & got a twitter account CG will cover it?
I would cover your coffee shop if not many of the other coffee shops in your neighborhood had Wi-Fi and if the coffee you sold was delicious, yet lower-priced, than most of your competitors.
Also, if you had games, movies, music, TV, and seat-to-seat instant messaging built into the back of every chair in your coffee shop (like Virgin does), that’d definitely be interesting. Twitter would be a nice bonus, I guess.
Except you reported on none of that, minus Wi-Fi, which other airlines have.
Sorry. Here you go:

Branson the marketing GURU.
He knows how to get attention from the media.
The problem is what’s next after dressing up “Like a Virgin”? Material girl?
I guess he was inspired by Aphex Twin (see CD cover of “Windowlicker”). You cannot deny his resemblance ;-)
Hehe! Wi-Fi on every flight as fares start at $109 is great news for business especially in recession.

I guess this is what everybody would call guerilla marketing.
Awesome Virgin Airlines! Sir Richard always makes a big splash. Happy Valentine’s Day to all.
LMAO, dude that was seriously funny, im surprised you can still see… but seriously do you have any idea how fast the wifi is? wireless N/G.

If you cover this you should have also mentioned Southwest’s unveiling yesterday of their Bar Rafaeli plane
