I am a PC. The truth is no one cares!! If I can get an good experience at a good proce point then I am in. I think MS is planning to drive home that point. If you go to Fry's there is a huge table for Apply product ( They looka little huge...mainly the monitors) but there is no face time for MS. so I think this will be their little pedestal to stand on and holler. I think they will open more in the emerging markets.

As for EU, I think they suck...we should kick Neelie Kroes as this really hurn american economy.

Apple's Genius Bar and One to One support is a big part of making those stores hum. Also the Apple stores offer free classes on most of their software, They do a two hour Final Cut workshop here every week in Simi Valley. Windows does not have an iLife to draw in people. The PC store is a bad idea.

Great that the pricing of the PC can be so low, but it's Apple that drives innovation. Just search YouTube for Steve Jobs and NeXT computer. The NeXT OS was an early version of the TIGER OS before Windows 3.11 existed.

I have been watching this since the mid 1980s - Apple dreams it up, PC copies and distributes it on the cheap.

It took years for 286 to go to the 3 inch floppy even on the 386 it was a choice.

Apple has always moved forward, and no matter what platform you are on we all need Apple to keep dreaming.

One more example. Apple stripped all the code for their non Intel machines out of Snow Leopard. Those of us with Intel based MACs now get an OS that is 6 gigs smaller and work more efficiently on our hardware.

Zune certainly is not a failure. It's managed to grab a large portion of MP3 player marketshare. Of course it hasn't overturned the iPod, but did you really expect it to? Give it time, the Zune HD looks like it'll be a fantastic product.

[...] An engineer at Microsoft has ballparked the cost of the 16GB ZuneHD at somewhere between $250 and $280 (for reference, a 16GB iPod Touch is $300). That’s a little bit higher than I’d have guessed, but considering OLED screens are still expensive, to say nothing of flash memory, it’s a solid estimate. Trouble is, where are they going to get people to take it for a spin? Apple’s got a great spot for iPod discovery — maybe it’s time for Microsoft to do the same. [...]

This is a dumb idea and it will never come close to the Apple Store experience. Apple has computers and software that is all theirs. Apple uses the Store to Sell Apple Hardware & Software, Support both and because it's all theirs it is a controllable environment. Microsoft does not build computers Customers will come in with HP, Sony, Dell, Acer, Home built and what the employees will be expected to work around all those variables....HA HA and good luck.

The Average Joe still buys Norton and McAfee with the full compliment of add-ons after is take a half hour to reboot a windows machine with all the protection software mucking it up They might help some one.

You buy Windows at Costco not a Microsoft Store.

Before Getting Into Retail, Someone Should Tell Microsoft That They Don’t Make Computers.

http://betterisnotperfect.wordpress.com/2009/02/15/before-getting-into-retail-someone-should-tell-microsoft-that-they-dont-make-computers/

Microsoft makes its money selling OS licenses to computer builders (pro and hobbyist). They are in the license business.

Microsoft is under the mistaken belief that they make computers and sell them to customers.
Dell is a computer builder. Dell buys licenses from Microsoft. Dell is not Microsoft’s “partner”. Dell is Microsoft’s customer. Microsoft is a parts supplier.

By convincing Dell that they are “partners” they can insist that Dell shape their products according to Microsoft’s needs.

Unfortunately, while convincing Dell that they were together in bringing computers to market MS convinced itself that this means they make computers and sell them to end users.

Are you seriously telling me that Microsoft created that environment on purpose? If OS X was the most common OS on the market, OS X would have all the viruses, Macs don't have less viruses because they're super secure, it's because those who make viruses don't want 2/10 of the people who visit their site to get the virus, they want 8/10 people. If Microsoft made an insecure environment on purpose, why are they offering people $250,000 to find the creator of the most critical worms that have been made in the past year?

Spoken like a snot-nosed, prep-school brat. What do you (or any Canadians for that matter) know about hard work or innovation eh? If notable alumni from Thornhill Secondary School are an example, you're on a rocket ship to the middle!

Microsoft lives throughout the technology spectrum with practical solutions and innovative ideas. Their products are sound. Their partnerships are solid and many great things: from scientific advancements to design achievements have been accomplished on their technology. What have you done besides post a picture of a kid with 12 working fingers (impressive!)?

Unjustified negative sentiment? How about creating an insecure environment that fosters hundreds of thousands of viruses, worms, trojans, and other malware?

That REQUIRES AV software, mail scanners, firewalls, and all sorts of additional security features?

Which in turn constantly takes thousands of computers and even entire networks down? Daily.

And whose systems support legions of spam botnets of all shapes and sizes?

THAT is why a lot of people dislike MS.
