It’s amazing what a little talent, a little gear and a lot of imagination can accomplish. The Purchase Brothers purportedly spent $500 to produce two episodes in a Half-Life movie series. This isn’t machinima, folks, but real human beings acting this stuff out. Very, very cool.
The Purchase Brothers’ website has the full quality video available, too.
As Kotaku observes, a straight-up Half-Life movie, focusing on Gordon Freeman, would be pretty boring. But the Half-Life world is rich with other stories to tell, and it’s exciting to see people run with their ideas.
For more home-made movie fun, check out 405: The Movie, and my favorite, the Star Wars themed IMPS: The Relentless.

Their website is down.
But sweet video I could totally get into watching something like that!
I am absolutely floored by the post production work that went into this! Kick ass is the understatement of the year. Props to Purchase Brothers!
That is really nice, and very impressive. It is stretching the definition of both “homemade” and “$500″ when you are talking about a professional productions studio, with an agent no less, as though they were just two guys doing it in their living room. It is easy to claim your budget is only $500 when you don’t count the cost of your equipment, software, or time.
This totally amazing. This is how half life movie should look like .
id luv to see a big budget star wars type rendition. the plot is worthwhile and theres alot of potential for a blockbuster success. it would have to be done right but it could become an instant classic. maybe even an HBO series if they committed to spending to money. the quality of the special effects would make or break this movie. id luv to see the scene where GORDON flees through RAVENHOLM. we dont go there anymore you know, lol.
@#$%^&* GOOD!!!
I can see this hitting the big screen!
I hope to see more soon!
THIS IS AWESOME if theres ever gonna be a full length movie itll be because of this. KEEP MAKING THESE MOVIES FELLAS
