We heard rumors about it a couple months ago, and indeed it appears that Eidos will be bought by Square-Enix, for “32 pence a share in cash.” They’re paying in funny money! Well, no. They’re paying in yens.

trfThe idea behind the purchase is a bit of “aggressive expansion into Western markets” (their words) and a bit of “why not?” This probably doesn’t mean we’ll see Lara Croft in Final Fantasy XIV, but they may actually put out a good Tomb Raider game now.

Lastly, am I the only one noticing that the BBC does not refer to Eidos in headlines, but only calls it either “Tomb Raider firm,” “Lara Croft,” or some variant (see right)? They make Hitman too, you know!
