Chances are Apple is prepping the next version of the Mac Mini. It’s about time for a refresh and this pic might be the real deal. It’s got FireWire 800, Mini DVI along with a Mini DisplayPort, five USB ports and an aluminum-ish finish; everything we would imagine that would be on the next-gen Mac Mini. Now, if we only knew when it will be released.

  • That actually looks pretty cool. How much?

  • I have a hard time believing that Apple would put FW800 on a Mac mini. Over the last few years they’ve been removing FireWire from their product lines (especially their lower-end consumer products).

    I call fake.

  • I a lot of people use the Mini in server environments and they daisy chain them together.

That might explain why they would keep FireWire on the Mini. Since that’s where most Minis end up.

  • The mini-displayport is a stupid stupid stupid stupid F’ing idea on the mac mini. It is advertised as “BYODKM — bring your own display, keyboard, and mouse.”

Adding that on and then charging likely 95% of the people who are going to buy that the $30 for a mini-displayport to dvi converter is ridiculous. That is about the lowest of low when it comes to nickel and diming your customers.

Yet another reason why I think Apple is full of it.
