windows7beta Windows 7 just plain rocks, but the RC is getting some tweaks over the Beta 7000 release. According to the Engineering Windows 7 blog, a good amount of the changes will be done ‘under the hood’ but still, some updates will involve a visible difference. After perusing the list a bit, it seems most of the changes simplify the user experience and clean up the interface a bit more. Honestly though, the beta is amazing and I’m sure most users cannot wait to see what will change for the better.

  • I was hoping that they would add more user interface changes such as multiple desktop feature that linux has had for years and perhaps a little more eye candy.

  • You would think that with all of the copying going on between different operating systems that Microsoft would have figured out the multiple desktops thing by now.

Windows 7 is nicer than Vista but I still feel like it is not where it should be. Operating systems need to be simple not excessively complicated.

  • If Only…
WMP was gone, along with IE, AND explorer.exe.
Don’t forget about all the superfluous services and capabilities that most will put to waste.
20 years in the making and the gui still SUCKS
    pathetic really

  • It is amazing how some Mac users would show off their hate against Windows…I mean, John, please, let’s clear something up. Windows 7 is by far the best operating system windows has done. after 2 months using it, I can simply tell that this is the most beautiful and reliable GUI I have ever used. taking into account that I installed it in a MBP 15′4 2.4ghz and still it handles my hardware and my battery better than OS X. Moreover, do not criticize something that u love to use anyways… stop the pornographic sites and then u will see an improvement in your windows by not getting full spywares and trojan which make u get BSOD…and do not excuse my english

      Oh Snap!!!

That was classic and funny… Now that you mention that stuff about spyware and trojan the other day i was playing with Suse Linux and i kinda like the improvement they made but hell i had a dificult time adding all the programs i needed to get it working. While i was playing with the OS i notice that it’s true that Linux is not vulnerable to spyware as Windows is and obviously we know the reason is because nobody pays attention to linux as they don’t have much of a marketshare in the desktop environment. In the end i notice that i see why alot of people like Linux(I like it too). But it’s mainly because Linux is a porn safe OS since it’s not targeted by spyware and malware makers, So from now on i will be calling Linux the Porn OS.

    Oh Snap!!!

That’s classic and spot on… I recently installed Suse Linux and i concluded that one area where Linux shines is downloading Porn without getting any spyware, so from now on I will call Linux the Porn OS. No wonder is has so many fanboys…

  • @Tony

I hope your not refering to me as being a biased. I run OS Attack http://www.osattack.com and I am far from biased against most products.

It does not take surfing porn sites to see a decrease in performance on a machine and implying that people are doing so is reflective of your own biases and actions. Windows 7 is still loaded with problems that will only be seen once it is in the market. My wife who has also been running Windows 7 demanded today that I switch her back to Windows Vista because she couldnt take the Windows 7 taskbar any longer.

You don’t have to be an Apple fanboy to be critical of Windows.

  • actually windows did have the multiple desktops thing but it was/is an add-on for XP. I’m not sure if its still available but it was called Virtual Desktop Manager. Almost the same as the multiple workspaces in linux but not quite.

    • You reinstalled vista because of the taskbar?

If you bothered to explore 7 and clicked around you would have found all the options to turn the 7 taskbar into the vista taskbar were a few mouse clicks away.

Now go and install windows 3.1 cos you don’t like the IE 8 beta.

  • Cool, it is important that work great and is for free :)

  • The new OS definitely sounds like it’s worth a look…
