iFixIt has torn up the 20-inch iMac, finding inside what appears to be a computer manufactured by Apple Computer. The coolest thing? The front screen is held in by magnets and can be removed with suction cups.

The iMacs also have laptop optical drives but full-sized desktop hard drives, a fairly interesting design choice. Sticking all of those electronics into a package that small must be pretty tough. Also, you can upgrade the RAM by removing a screw in the back. Easy peasy.

…. but will it blend?
Good one man!
iMacs have been like this for a while now. I just slip a razor blade/box cutter between the glass and metal and just pop the front off. But don’t use a blade around the isight. ;)
Good to know you can easily up the RAM and not pay the $1000 upgrade fee Apple wants for 8 GB.
Of course they have full sized disks, that’s one of the features of an iMac. Did you think they had laptop drives inside? Why then would 1TB options exist?
Does anyone know what kind of harddrives the Imac uses? I’m configuring a new computer and I wan’t one of those silent drives that the Imac uses.. I hate the “reading” sounds on all drives I’ve had
