Love ‘em or hate ‘em, thin TVs are hot and Panasonic’s flagship plasma finally got a price and it’s ’bout right.
The 1-inch thick plasma will hit retailers with an MSRP of $5,999 this coming June. Considering that the screen packs a 1080p picture and a native contrast ratio of 40,000:1, while being so damn thin, that price is good. Plus, you know that retailers will mark the TV down to a more affordable range so people can squeeze the TV on their already used credit card. HD Guru points out that the next compariable TV is the Sharp LC52XS1 which carries a price tag of $12,000. With this set leading plasma in the future, who said that plasma is dead? Oh, me.

Plasma’s are dead, they are wasting their time and efforts in creating more of them. If the tv is going to sit on a stand or hang on the wall, I don’t see why it makes any difference if it is 4 inches or 1 inch deep. Home entertainment installers hate these new thin televisions and most of the time don’t care to work on a project if there is one involvled. The cables are a pain to deal with when it is up that close against the wall and they overheat on a consistent basis, due to the owners wanting them as close to the wall as they can get them. No Thanks!!! Get ride of the silver border Panasonic, they kill the product and the picture because your eye’s are drawn to its flashy style.
Matt – don’t feel bad, I thought Plasma was dead too but it’s good to see Panasonic and Samsung coming out with great products.
Thanks for the post, I usually check out HD Guru at the beginning of the day but this post slipped past me.

Plasma is dead, because of very low brain consumers. People who buy LCD also buy a watch and a calculator. LCD was invented 1904. Plasma 1964. So nice to hear YOU but a 100 year old nasty technology which was invented for static (NOT TV) pictures/images
