If you’re still rolling with the film method, or just have an archive you want to convert to digital, Yashica’s got you covered. Instead of using a big flatbed scanner you can get one of these smaller, portable units. Sporting 3600dpi, it’ll talk to most editing software without a problem.
No news on pricing or availability in the U.S., but it is currently available in Japan.

Wonder if it will work with slides?
I’d guess so. There’s no info at the source but it looks like the film holder is adaptable.
Yashica’s website (Japanese) says, yes, it does slides, in mounts, max of three at a time in the holder. Requires WinXP or later. No support for Mac, or Win2K and earlier.
Long live film!
Thanks for clearing that up, man.
There have been other similar products and for a lot of people they’re hit and miss for negatives and slides. But I’ll probably buy one to digitize all of my parents slides.
No Mac support?!
Too bad – I really need something like that to scan in all of my old slides / films…
Looks cool anyway
