I'm not disputing that Macs are indeed nicely designed where you can see but piles of crap where you can't with QC that has more in common with an American car than any other computer manufacturer, but It's likely an NVidia issue.

I've had similar problems on my 8400M'd Vaio when waking it up from sleep on an external monitor doing 1920 x 1200. A res change, refresh rate change or suchlike gets rid of the problem, but since I usually work on the Intel IGP on the Sony's it's not been anywhere near as annoying a problem as it might be otherwise.

That's also not to say Apple regularly has problem panels as well - I heard Jobs joke once about everyone else getting Apple's panel castoffs, but from my experience with multiple Macbook Pro / Apple Cinema Display returns / repairs due to crap screens I would have said the opposite is the case.

Looks like "Plus ca change" with the new unibodies - it's just that if you don't opt for the matte option available on the 17-inch (the choice of which apparently has its own set of issues), you can't actually tell how much that screen sucks on the new 'megaglare' glass-fronted machines because you're forever moving your head around like a Bollywood dancer trying to actually see what's on the frackin' screen in anything but pitch black.

All I can say is that's what you get for thinking Mac's are HIGH AND MIGHTY. I am so sick of the people that thing that they are better than you because they can afford a MAC and they think all windows users suck.

Mac is nothing more than OVERPRICED POS.... So get your thumbs out your butt and get off your high horse because YOU ARE NOT BETTER than US.... Look at how much you have to pay in to have your OVERPRICED machine fixed....

I don't know why but I just got a scene from Rocky IV jump into my head. You know, the one where he's fighting the Russian at the end and finally lands one across the guys face and he bleeds and the trainer screams out "YOU SEE! HE IS JUST A MAN!". Well, to the Apple fanboys out there - IT IS JUST A COMPUTER. Not a way of life. And it is, apparently, not immune to problems...much like a PC.

A MAC is nothing more than a white pc. PC's are known for having random little issues like that why should a MAC pc be any different.
