A Tokyo-based design company called amadana today announced the amadana SAL [JP], a palm-sized video camera that can be pre-ordered in Japan starting April 17. Non-Japanese people interested in the stylish gadget can ask Japan Trend Shop, Gizmine, Geek Stuff 4 U or Rinkya to list it. The Japanese street price is $210.
Sized at just 95×54×12mm (weight: 85g), the amadana SAL features a 3MP CMOS sensor, a 2-inch 320×240 screen, 2GB of internal memory, a USB port and a mono mic. Video can be recorded in MPEG-4 (640×480 resolution) and at a frame rate of 30fps. The internal memory stores 2 hours of footage. Two SALs can be connected with each other via USB for double recordings.
Believe it or not, but amadana says SAL is short for “Smile and Laugh、Share a Life、Share a Love、Sexy and Lovely”. Right. The device goes on sale in Japan in five different colors on May 22.
