Likewise, have not made as much use of VoIP as I probably could/should, given the downsides of wired headsets, and lousy attempts at using a bluetooth via my Mac. Would love to have this baby to give it a go.

If this works well, it might actually be worth the money – its cheaper than the new PC I’ve considered buying since my wife discovered skype and I lost sole custody of the computer.

I travel a lot. Skype is my best tool for communicating worldwide and knowing I’m paying the same thing for an international call, where ever I’m at. I’ve toyed with Fring and other mobile apps, but they are cumbersome. I would love a dedicated tool like this as it allows me to take my phone number everywhere – cheaply.

I’m doing research on wifi phones and came across this review. I found a way to use my cellphone as a skype-out phone, but not skype-in. If I don’t win this phone offer, I’ll wait until wifi phones provide texting before I spend any money. Thanks for the review!

I use the Skype service a lot, and the wired IPEVO handset has proven to be my best friend, especially when my wife wants to call her sister across the border. We will soon move to Australia, so Skype will become a MUST, and a wireless headset like this could be a nice (and useful) addition to our gadget collection, and willl save one computer from being used as a very fancy telephone (as our iMac G5 is basically used now)…BRAVO!!!!!

I have been looking at WiFi Skype phones for awhile but the one problem they seem to all have is not being able to deal with WiFi hotspots that require a browser to view a webpage to log in on. Where I live that includes Starbucks and Hastings. That’s the only thing that has kept me from buying.

I’ve been pretty happy with the Linksys DECT handset (like the Philips one described above) but it would be great to loose the extra router and be able to make calls using office wifi too (seems like the contact list doesn’t sync often enough either on the Linksys, so people appear online that are really now offline and the reverse).

I have a paid Skype account and use whenever I need to sit on a phone call, talk to the friends in Europe and make a call from wherever I can get wifi access! I’d love to have a wifi phone so that my laptop would be free for other things, or just stay in the case for a bit.

At about a $100 it is not cheap. Devices like Sony’s Mylo and the new PSP have more features and can make Skype calls. However, a dedicated Skype WiFi phone competitively priced could be the way to go in an ubiquitious WiFi world.
