There you are, sitting in your basement with your headset on, getting ready to record the latest episode of your kick ass Transformers podcast. You glance at your Feedburner stats and wonder, for the millionth time, why your subscriber volume has remained so low for so long. Maybe it’s because no one can understand you, what with your crappy headset mic?

We’ve reviewed a handful of great (and not-so-great) microphones here on CrunchGear, so you’d do well to start with one of those. But if you want to throw caution to the wind, check out the RĂ˜DE Podcaster microphone. At $230, you can feel like you’re really entering the big leagues with your Transformers podcast!

  • We actually do use this mic and are happy with it. But sadly we didn’t come up with the Transformers podcast idea first ;-(

    • Cool, glad you’re happy with it. It looks like a fine mic, but in a sea of competing products, I just don’t see this one standing out very much.

      • Don’t know if it stands out since we haven’t tried anything else in the podcasting world. We mainly use it to narrate screen casts, which works very well and is free of glitches. What makes it easy is that you don;t need any intermediary audio hardware to connect to the computer. Just plug it into the usb port – done -start talking.
