Netflix asking if you’d be willing to pay $10 for PS3 streaming

Oh. My. God. Neflix on the PS3. Can it be real? Please let it be real! I need yet another way to see a dodgy stream of a dodgy movie.

Apparently Netflix is asking its customers if they’d be willing to pay a one-time fee of $9.99 for the ability to stream movies to the PS3.

Silicon Alley Insider—you can tell the site means business because it uses companies’ stock name after every mention, that is, “Microsoft (MSFT) did well last year, here’s why”—did the heavy lifting and got nothing but predictable “we don’t talk about rumors” quotes from both Sony and Netflix. Well, Sony said it has “nothing to announce,” while Netflix has never elaborated on just how “exclusive” its deal with Microsoft (MSFT) is regarding Netflix streaming.

So, don’t be too surprised if one of these days you see a screaming yet bland headline: NETFLIX STREAMS TO PS3, YAY!

  • Would there be any difference over the xbox variety? or is this just for the PS3 owners?

  • Id do it.

    my 2 cents.

  • Why a disk?

Why can’t we just download the app from PSN?

Pay for the app or not, I don’t care, but id really rather NOT have to put a disk into my PS3 every time I use it.

  • PSN download is preferred. I agree with other posts that having to use a disk each time is a bit strange.

I use media mall’s playon media server – it streams netflix, Hulu, youtube, ESPN, CBS, and amazon VOD from my PC to my PS3.

I would need a really good reason to shell out another $10 for a disk – on top of the $15 a month I give netflix already.
