Heads up, people. Nintendo is dropping another Zelda on us, and it looks a bit different than usual. Last I checked, Link didn’t have a pet train to ride around, nor did he even exist in an age capable of supporting steam technology. But hey, I’m willing to roll with it. So’s this guy:

There was no information for Zelda: Spirit Tracks released other than this teaser, so we’ll keep an eye out for you. It looked pretty sweet, but the video was on short notice so sorry about the quality.

  • Wasn’t the boat in the last Zelda game steam driven?

  • Well, they have officially ruined hand held Zelda games. I mean seriously, a steam powered train? Yeah, no. I just hope what they come up with next for the wii is better then this. Otherwise I just might give up on a good Zelda game in the future.

  • Personally, I think the idea of a pre-modern link sounds interesting. The games have supposedly always been set about 100 years between eras. You’d think that eventually, Hyrule would experience some technological advancement. Personally, I’m looking forward to Link on a space station. Sure, it’s a failed idea for Jason, The Leprechaun, or any other random slasher monster, but I have a lot more faith in Shigeru Miyamoto than any of those hacks.

On a side note, it’s also my understanding that the Link and Zelda we keep seeing are usually reincarnations of the previous ones, with Ganon being immortal. The exception being the cell-shaded Link we first saw in Wind Waker. Looking at this video and assuming it’s set hundreds or so years after the Wind Waker era, it seems CelLink is also being reincarnated over the ages (or is somehow immortal too.) So…..I’m wondering if the two SouLinks will ever have a physical world meeting in any game. That would be….interesting.

    • I just hope that even if they take Zelda into the modern age, they keep a lot of the fantasy and magical elements.

Zelda just would NOT be Zelda if it went sci-fi, other games have shown us before that magic/fantasy settings in a modern day environment CAN work well many times before.

  • The trailer is to short to make up your mind about the game. Dungeons and items still seem to be true to the old games. But a train?

In WW ppl didn’t like the fact that you had to sail everywhere. In PH on DS they did it again. And now a train? I sure hoop the train is only to get to spots faster, because i want the freedom to walk everywhere on my own or on Eponas back. What ever happened to having faith full horse anyhow.
