The “new revolutionary Portable Laptop Table” from SkyMall is apparently perfect for those days that you just want to throw on a comfy pair of work slacks, shirt, and tie, and get into bed to do some serious telecommuting.
At $120, it’s not cheap but, hey, we’re talking plastic here — plastic plus various degrees of adjustability. If you can figure out how to make a table that adjusts, then you can charge over a hundred bucks for it too. That’s some rocket science right there.
Oh, and it folds too. Good luck trying to figure out how to make an adjustable plastic table that also folds. Holy crap, there’s more. It can also be used to read books! And presumably magazines!

Perfect for business travelers, this gem is unique in its ability to properly position your laptop for reclined computing. Use in bed, on a sofa or a reclining chair. Fully adjustable to maximize comfort while in use, the laptop table helps to relieve neck and back pain, and allows for the correct placement of your arms for easy use of your computer.
Folds flat for easy travel and storage. Makes an ideal gift for laptop computer users, and even doubles as a bookstand for reading! Also designed for people who are disabled, have back problems, mobility issues or are bedridden. The Laptop Table is lightweight and has a movable front ledge that allows for the most comfortable hand position. It also eliminates the heat on legs or lap. Securely holds laptops of all sizes and even your personal DVD player. Assembles in no time with no tools!
As someone who works from home, I actually very much applaud this idea. Needless to say, the sticking point is the $120 price tag. Cut it in half and then maybe cut it in half again and I might just put a toaster on the dresser, sleep in my best blogging suit and tie, and get to work first thing in the morning.
Portable Laptop Desk [SkyMall.com]

Holy crap! 120 for this thing!?!? That’s just plain stupid…especially in todays economy.
too high in cost…but very nice for lazy people.
The LapGenie at LapGenie.com is SO MUCH BETTER than this laptop desk.
You can use the LapGenie also sitting on your couch or as a desktop stand.
And the LapGenie is built of lightweight machined aluminum. Thus it also dissipates heat better. And it fits in your laptop case or bag.
This company gave me a wooden version (http://www.laptop-laidback.com/g4_feature-laptop_laidback.htm) to review back in 2000 called the Laptop Laidback. I liked it but it broke easily. I’ll bet this version is more durable.
Does it come with a Snuggie?
Look like it would be difficult to maneuver your hand while using this – especially if trying to access the back of your computer.
I actually picked this item up directly from the manufacturer’s website where the cost is only $100 and not $120 (SkyMall markup, I suppose). A couple months ago, I developed a very painful back problem that needed quite a bit of bed rest to treat. Spending the money on this item saved me money in the end, since it allowed me to work from home instead of taking sick days to cover my recovery.
I feel that it’s money well-spent, but YMMV.
Buenos dias.
