When it came to light that Dell was offering their Mini 10 with a HD display, I immediately thought about the HP 2140. It was supposed to ship with a high res display back in mid-February, but never did. And Dell’s Mini 10 wouldn’t be shipping with the 1366×768 display for another two weeks so I pinged HP to see what the deal was. Maybe there was a delay or quality issues with the 10-inch displays. Well, I just heard back from HP and it looks like high res displays will appear for the 2140 starting on April 1. Let’s see if Dell actually starts shipping their HD display Mini 10 in two weeks.

Maybe I missed something, but it doesn’t look like the HD model is available on HP’s website yet… Maybe they were pulling an April Fools’ Day trick. I had heard that it’d be available on the sixth?

Hi all, I just got off the horn with HP and they will be launching it on the 6th. The rep I spoke with said it will be available either through the phone or the website. However she said initially to get it you will have to order a custom build as of today no preconfigured systems are available.
i got a completely different story from an HP rep on April 2. they said they would love for it to be out April 6, but could not confirm that and said it could be somewhat later. I asked how late, and they said it was yet to be determined.
i also emailed customer service and they could not even confirm an april 6 date.
i love hp products, but i’m concerned about reports i’ve read saying the two month delay in a higher def screen is based on some quality glitches in the device.
I just ordered one of the Hi-Rez HP2140’s. It was a internal special that means you have to call in to order it. Comes with a 6 cell battery all for $479!
Damn, I ordered it first thing on the 6th and didn’t see it as a special. After taxes and shipping I was just under $800 (got the vista business upgrade). Guess I will call in the morning and see if I can get it adjusted at all.
They would price match so I canceled my order and ordered the same system for $300 less..
