ReadMyBlogToMe.com is a new service from Accross Media Limited that reads selected comments to you in MP3 format or over the phone. The service will cost $10 per month for blog posts and $50 per month for a complete feed of your Twitter conversations.
Marginally inspired by xkcd, the service will call your phone and read aloud to you the contents of comments, so that you don’t need to revisit our site or muck around with an RSS reader. Advanced filtering controls will allow you to subscribe to just those comments in which you’re actually interested, so you don’t get 300 phone calls a day on the never-ending Linux-vs-Windows debate when all you’re interested in are more wacky USB gizmos. As the service matures, the company will fine-tune the system to suggest additional comments that might be of interest to you.
Here is an example of the service in action using a recent post:

We’ve partnered with Accross Media Limited, creators of ReadMyBlogToMe.com, to bring this exciting new service to you. The first 100 people to comment here will receive a beta key.
For this beta test, the number of readers is limited. You can select from Ranjit in New Delhi, or Igor in Kiev. As we build out the infrastructure, we’ll add additional readers so that the blog comments sound as great as their contents! Please indicate which reader you would prefer in your comment.

Ranjit in New Delhi please.
Let’s start listening.
Who on earth would want to pay for such a thing…
Yes, this is horrible, this idea.
well said, Samir
okay zombie…
decadal app primary adapt trade decrease temperatures
You see from this again that an organism must have a comparatively gross structure in order to enjoy the benefit of fairly accurate laws, both for its internal life and for its, interplay with the external world. ,
This is such a fantastic idea! Just please, please have Ranjit ( I presume the sample was Ranjit) put more feeling into his reading. I want to hear how the original commenter felt when they were writing. Make that comment come to life for me!
No..It was the other guy…
I’ve been waiting for someone to build this! I want to listen to tweets while driving.
Sounds a bit pricy … we’ll just have to see!
I agree that this service is expensive (and something that we really don’t need) Are people really going to use this service? They seriously can’t wait until they get back home or in the office to read a blog post or a Twitter message. That’s sad.
No, people will not use it because no text-to-speech service has ever been successful. They didn’t use email readers ten years ago, nor webpage readers five years ago. TTS must have some kind of magical allure for potential funding sources though, since these companies keep popping up before disappearing silently a year or two later.
Why is this? Because it always sounds like crap.
fool, that is april fool prank.
Ha! This in theory would be awesome. Oh, and you should actually buy readmyblogtome.com, instead of parking it. That’ll make this story more convincing.
I’d rather hear Igor in Kiev, by the way. ;)
this is a decent idea but too early imho
okay, okay, it’s april fools day. we get it.
Sounds great, I’d like to try it out.
Is this a joke? Deadpool in 3, 2, 1…
you guys just aren’t that funny…for real.
I can see the point, but I don’t think there will be a market for it.
This is hilarious – love the choice of “Igor” for the demo MP3, reading the comments about Microsoft’s “Sassy Lauren”.
For those interested in a real iPhone app that reads your blogs posts (not comments) to you on the go, check out “PimpMyNews” in the App Store: http://bit.ly/PMNiPhone
Our computerized voices can’t match comedic delivery of “Igor” though ;)
I can pay to hear a voice read “will it run crysis?”
WHERE DO I SIGN UP???
lol i wanna sign up
I would pay good money for this service.
However I’d just like to ask for the pace to be slowed down and a loud, booming, authoritative, almost sensual American voice to be added to the already impressive portfollio.
Do you know someone with a loud, booming, authoritative, almost sensual American voice who would be willing to be a reader?
Why an Indian guy reading a blog? We have enough here at the office with Sunil and Rahul — asking them to repeat what they say about a hundred times a day…
This is an April’s Fool prank, I hope!
Hahaha that’s the most ridiculous voice to use to read back blog posts and comments. This is either a poorly thought out service, or a decent April Fools bit.
I’ll check it out … how is it different from pimpmynews.com? At least with pimpmynews you don’t have to use minutes. There are lots of other sites out there doing this:
newsworthyaudio.com, odiogo.com, the original was probably readspeaker.com.
Sign me up :)
Pick me, pick me :-)
I’m in.
Haha, good one. You should take a look at
http://www.listentoblogs.com
which does exactly this, but for free. :)
And I promise, it’s not an Aprils fools joke.
Wow! Techcrunch now published bogus site news too? ReadMyBlogToMe.com goes to GoDaddy domain parking page. Good Progress by TechCrunch editors :)
Or is it April 1st Parcel :)
Ha Ha,
Who wants to singup?
I have the beta invites :P
Another great way to check whether viewers are commenting without checking the link of the site or not?
I’m interested
are u bicurious?
this has to be an april fools joke. The URL goes to a GoDaddy landing page.
You can listen to blogs here http://www.listentoblogs.com which someone has to volunteer and record first…
This is SOOOOO funny! Thanks for the laugh!!!
That’s wonderful!
LOL
Kind of defeats the purpose of Twitter. It will take too long to listen to text-to-speech tweets versus reading the 140 characters.
Being in pbx industry for quite some time, this is the easiest voice mashup which is possible.
Not worth a dime unless its a part of bigger app. I know someone else is doing this and would be giving out free of cost. Good luck.
the voices sound cute, not sure which of the voice engines are they using??
The domain is registered to BigWideLogic.com which appears to belong to John Biggs.
I am interested in testing this service.
Me tooooo……
Very cool idea… now if I could just get all my voicemails in a text message for free I would be in heaven.
Let’s go with IGOR.
ditz
IGOR !
Great news! ;)
Cool!
