The next iPhone will have a Broadcom BCM4329 chip inside it, a low-power chip that supports 5GHz 802.11n networks. Basically, some dudes at AppleInsider (HA!) found resource files that point to drivers for the new chip is reserved for the next gen Touch and iPhone and should be able to offer higher quality of service.
The new device also focuses on efficient power management, with a special integrated PMU (power management unit) and a shared Bluetooth and WiFi receive signal path, which “eliminates the need for an external power splitter while maintaining excellent sensitivity for both Bluetooth and WLAN.”

wow, cant wait to hold the new iphone baby and finally play with it
I’m (in my own crazy universe) quietly betting on an iPod Touch “HD”. You’ve got these rumors about screens for a “tablet”, and at the same time, you kind of have to wonder, besides more memory and maybe 802.11n and that sort of thing, what would Apple offer to make a compelling new device? I don’t buy the rumors of a “nano” iPhone. What would they take away? The camera, and a smaller screen? Who would buy that?
No, I’m betting they make one that’s the same size but with a higher resolution (iPhone Pro, maybe 800×480 screen, which has been done on other devices of the same size class). And at the same time, make a bigger iPod touch with a 1280×720 screen (say a 6 or 7 inch screen, maybe 8?). If you look at the netbooks coming out these days (the viliv S5 has a 1024×600 4.8″ screen, and then there’s the Dell mini10 and HP 2140 with their 1376×768 10″ screens), it can be done.
Now with the App store providing applications to do whatever you want, and with Apple allowing landscape mode in all the core apps (because using a 6/8″ rectangular device in portrait mode would probably be pretty weird), you’ve got what basically amounts to an Apple netbook/tablet. It has wifi, plays HD video (since Apple is pushing that on iTunes now), maybe there’d be a version with a cell radio. And with an 8-inch screen, you could probably almost use the landscape keyboard to touch type.
Would be pretty impressive, if you ask me.
Oh, and the larger physical size means you can fit more NAND chips in there, so maybe you jump straight to 64GB or 128GB so you can store a decent number of HD movies.
And that 802.11n? Very handy for moving those huge files wirelessly AppleTV-style (but now I’m really just dreaming since that’s not something the iPhone/iPod Touch currently supports, so it would have to come straight out of the blue).
There is no iPhone 4G. Don’t confuse the technology 3G with the generational number, the iPhone 3G is the iPhone 2nd Gen. The first iPhone is often referred to as 2G as it only had edge, aka 2G, however there have only been two iPhones and the next one will be iPhone 3gen. LTE, the technology which will take over for 3G, is still so far away that the next iPhone definitely won’t have it. iPhone 3.0 is likely to be the slang term
I made up my own numbering scheme.
…wait… this explorer is totally wrong… it’s not a good to God PC… it must be some perverted demented apple version… the hell is waiting fothem corrupted, perverted pedophiles bastrds…
