CircuitCity.com to relaunch “in the coming weeks”
by Matt Burns on April 7, 2009

circuitcity1 Well, well. Circuit City went down in flames and the last stores shut their doors weeks ago. However, the brand might not be entirely dead. Check out CircuitCity.com:

CircuitCity.com is also temporarily closed, although we anticipate the website will reopen in the coming weeks. Please check back for updates.

So yeah, it looks like Circuit City might rise from the ashes just like CompUSA. Too bad this doesn’t mean that 30,000 employees will get their jobs back as the website – if the statement ever pans out – will probably be ran by only a few folks. More as we get it.

[Thanks for the tip, Nate]

  • Should be interesting to see how they compete with newegg and tigerdirect. I think they are going to have a tough time with that. I suppose we’ll see soon though.

  • I’m not entirely sure but I believe it’s been like that for a while now. Even before they officially closed their B&M stores last month.

  • Guy’s I called CC and I actually spoke with someone. For kicks I asked about how the online version of CC would handle warranty’s on items purchased in their stores. They told me that it would be handled by a third party company and that I would be mailed my information via snail mail.

So the online CC will claim to be CC but in reality will probably be an entirely different company. They arent going to back the product they sold in the past. This is a bummer!

    • The warranty deparment was always a third party company budy,. I know from inside, that the name has been purchased by direct competitor of tigerdirect.com and they also wish to open smaller stores in the future as well.

  • i have a pretty good size gift card. i hate to see that i have lost it. what can i do

  • alan the terrible - April 9th, 2009 at 2:05 am GMT+5

use your gift card as toilet paper they ripped all thier customers off durring the closeing sale

  • The funny thing is my cousins xbox is going funky and he bought it from cc..
Hahha im so glad i got mine from bestbuy.

    • I never worked retail in my life but I was sad to see Circuit City went out of business. From reading these comments it’s no wonder they, along with other stores, went out of business. People are total idiots when it comes to shopping and not asking questions. I stood in line at the return section at a Best But store and over heard a woman saying, “it’s your fault that my TV was struck by lightening”. This is what gives retail stores a bad name is the idiotic general public that I’ve seen in retail stores and what these clerks have to put up with.

  • What is supposed to happen with my warranty now?! I have a laptop that I need help with.

  • I have a two year warranty, what will happen with that its still good until 2011. If something happens to my big screen TV, am I screwed on the extra money I paid or can I still get it fixed with my warranty!!!!!!

    • I CALLED THE ADVANTAGE PROTECTION NUMBER
(1-888-333-2333) ON THE 15TH OF APRIL, THE REPAIR MAN CALLED ME ON THE 16TH AND I HAVE HEARD NO MORE FROM THEM. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CALL THE 888-333-2333 NUMBER FOR THE PASS 24 HOURS AND ALL I GET IS A BUSY SIGNAL. WHAT IS GOING ON? HOW CAN I GET AHOLD OF ANYBODY!!!!
MY ADVANTAGE PROTECTION RUNS OUT 11-2011

  • I GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL STATING HHGREGG WOULD BE THE NEW CC. MY IN STORE CARD WOULD BE MAILED TO ME IN LATE MAY 2009. HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD THIS???

  • you guys are stupid. the circuit city advantage plans have ALWAYS been covered through the third party company Assurant. they have never been covered directly through circuit city, circuit city just sold it. and since circuit city went out of business the protection plans are still in effect.

  • FIRST OF ALL WHO THE HELL ARE YOU CALLING STUPID JOHN. WE ALL KNOW THAT IT IS A THIRD PARTY BUT DO YOU KNOW HOW TO REACH THEM. I HAVE BEEN CALLING THEM SINCE 11AM THURDAYAND ALL I GET IS A BUSY SIGNAL

  • Charles Hollingsworth - May 4th, 2009 at 3:36 pm GMT+5

My television is still under warranty but I cannot get anyone to answer by telephone at the service department. All the Circuit City phone numbers I try are busy signals. Is there a way I can get service on my television while the warranty is still good? I have been paying for this warranty every year for a long time.

Please reply as to how I can get service on my television and warranty purchased from Circuit City.

All Circuit Citys used different # and Discriptions for the Two types Of warranty they Offered @ per Sabrina L.:

Thank you for contacting Contract Administration Support Chat, my name is Sabrina
randy: Sabrina is there any way I can obtain
randy: a way to verify what CC used as a
randy: plan number to distinguish the difference
randy: between a basic plan and a plus plan/

Sabrina L.: The PCkits and models numbers do not affect the advantage plan. We sold two different warranties. If it has listed on your receipt of purchase a Circuit City Advantage Plan than you did not purchase accidental damage
. If it has listed on your receipt that you purchased a Circuit City Advantage Plan Plus than it covered accidental damage.

    randy: Ok
    randy: the reciept is abreviated

Sabrina L.: We go by what is listed on the receipt. We do not go by plan number because each store may have a different plan number listed. It would be either a Advantange Plan or Advantage Plan Plus.

randy: What was the abrivation for the plus plan

Sabrina L.: If you tell me how the receipt is listed, I can tell you what plan you purchased.

    randy: 1 csp

and on top of the hassle, they want you send them proof that your reciept says Plus on it… Mine had a P… on it, but was it the right P ?
