F93-2402-main02-am I don’t want to get everybody’s hopes up, but we just might be entering the era of sub-$200 24-inch monitors. Slowly but surely… slowly but surely. Today we have one from TigerDirect for $199 after a $50 price break, plus $1.99 for ground shipping.

It’s a Synaps brand (whaaat, you’ve never heard of Synaps?) that features a 1920×1200 resolution, built-in speakers, and VGA/DVI inputs – sorry, no HDMI here.

  • WHERE’S THE BEEF ?

    No HDMI..No Thanks…

  • Well..never heard of synaps…but thats a pretty decent deal…

In response to GjP, HDMI is the exact same thing as DVI…sorta.

“First, to clear away one element that can be confusing: DVI and HDMI are exactly the same as one another, image-quality-wise. The principal differences are that HDMI carries audio as well as video, and uses a different type of connector, but both use the same encoding scheme, and that’s why a DVI source can be connected to an HDMI monitor, or vice versa, with a DVI/HDMI cable, with no intervening converter box. ”
