41hr22HmoWL._SL500_AA280_ Amazon.com is selling a 1TB Seagate hard drive for $79.99. It’s an OEM drive with 32MB cache and 7200 RPM spindle speed.

This is the same drive that had those problems earlier this year, but the new firmware has supposedly fixed all that bad mojo, so feel free to make this purchase with reckless abandon and copy all your photos and home movies to it without a second thought.

Seriously, though, it should be fine now. I’ve been running this very drive in my file server for a few months without a hitch.

  • Doug you sold me on the drive. I just ordered mine from AMAZON. Now to play the waiting game. I am extremely worried about getting a bad drive. I must have just read over 100 different reviews putting the drive and the company down. Just as there were many negative reviews there were also many positive reviews. I hope to be part of the positive review crowd. If the drive turns out to be faulty and or dies within a month rest assured I will ship it to Crunchgear and expect a new one in return since you suckered me into buying this….LMAO j/k j/k
