The last 10 years haven’t been all kind to Nintendo. The early part of the decade was dominated by the PS2 and GTA games. But once ‘05 and ‘06 roll around and the DS and Wii take off? Oh my god.
9 out of the top 10 top-selling console titles are from Nintendo, and their numbers dwarf the others, according to this official-looking chart from VGChartz. I guess arguments could be made that Wii Sports was a tie-in and Wii Play people bought because it came with a controller, but buddy, it doesn’t matter. This is like when in the Lord of the Rings they actually see the true size of Lord Voldemort’s army of Wolfoids or whatever. We knew they were doing well, but this is ridiculous.
Although as expected, the PS2 still holds its own on total sales, which I guess you could compare to the ghost army that Aragorn drafts. But like that army, the PS2 is also about to disappear on the breeze. I release you!
Where’s “The Sims”?
I remember it being named one of the top selling games of ALL TIME, let alone the last 10 years.

The best part is the only title on that list that is actually a good game is not for nintendo. I hate seeing stuff like this because it gives people ammo to argue that nintendo is a good gaming company. And don’t get me wrong they are if your and elderly person who has probally never even played a vidoe game before or a japaniese school girl. NINTENDO IS FOR LOSERS WHO CAN”T GAME. PICK UP YOUR STICKS AND GET WOOPED LIKE A REAL MAN. ON A PS3
I think what this really shows is that Japan dominates in buying games. I don’t know any twenty somethings buying Pokemon games outside of Asia. And yes, I do know a few buying them over there.

I think most parents buy games for their kids and lets hope they don’t buy the GTA series for them. Nintendo provides a great family game exp. for the whole family not just the slobbering porno and violence fiends some of the haters of Nintendo appear to be. If I wanted to teach my 11 and 12 year olds how to operate a gang I might buy GTA.
