According to a leaked memo that is supposedly going around Sprint retailers, the Palm Pre has two possible launch dates. Retailers are expected to receive shipments of the Pre in late April or early May and based on the initial batch of units, the Pre could launch on May 17. But if supplies are limited then the launch date could be delayed until June 29.
The memo goes on to say that Sprint has instituted a vacation freeze for the month of May to begin employee training for all front-end employees. Let’s all hope this is true. Daddy needs the new hotness and soon!

If they launch in June, they’re DOA. iPhone will kill palm off.
What you must be crazy Palm Pre’s design is way more innovative than iphone … synergy is the way of the future no doubt
I don’t know about that, as they’re not exactly targeting the same group. But I do agree that they need to get this out the door as early as possible. Pre-mania (if there is such a thing) is rapidly running out of steam.
I’ve been holding onto my 700p for almost three years now. Resisting the impulse to buy an Iphone, even though my contract expired last year from Verizon. There are many reasons why I didn’t jump, including AT&T, no Control C and V, no keypad, tethering, no slingbox, and more.
One consumer review said it best when they pointed out that the Iphone is great for people who don’t want to read instructions and want it to work out of the box. I think Treo users are a little more complex with their demands on the device than the typical Iphone user. Geeks don’t be offended. I’m not talking to you. The Sprint factor is a non-issue for me since I’ve had a company aircard for 2 years now with very satisfactory results, and with 4G on the horizon in the Philly area this year, it’ll be awesome.
I’ll wait for the Pre. I’ll even wait a month after release to see what shakes out with the software and network issues. I’m sure a lot of Iphone users wish they had done the same instead of camping out overnight so they could be the first guinea pigs on an imperfect initialization of a product line.
And Apple will sue Palm on May 16th, or June 28th. Even though Apples’ claims of patent infrigement are totally without merit, they have more money than God (due to all the mindless syncophants). So yet again, evil will trump good.
