I can’t tell you how much stuff I have lying around my apartment and office that I’ve been meaning to unload for the last few months or even year. I’ve used Flipswap and Gazelle in the past with varying degrees of success – $20 vs $45 for an old Nokia from college – and now NextWorth is getting in on the used gadget recycling game with added categories.
They originally started off with the iPod and iPhone and now they’re taking in old BlackBerrys, digital cameras, GPS units, video games and video game consoles. I quickly checked to see what I could get for my Nintendo DS Lite and NextWorth’s offer is $14 more than Gazelle with an offer of $44.72. They seem to have competitive offers for mobile phones as well.
You can opt to be paid via a check, Paypal, Target or Amazon gift card, which is something the competitors don’t offer. And shipping for your gadget is free. If it turns out that you fibbed about your gadget (jk) and it turns out to be worth nothing then NextWorth will recycle it for you.
Did you know that e-waste is growing 2-3 times faster than any other waste stream? Me either, but that’s what the EPA is saying. So go and get yourself some beer money for all your used junk.

is flipswap.com worth two billion? Possibly. Long live web 2.0. huge growth
Might want to also check out this brand new site: http://www.YouRenew.com that seems a more formidable competitor to Gazelle. Apparently just launched.
great idea! question is what happens to the old gadgets? do they fix them? resell them? take them apart? any clues?
I’m also very curious about this. How are these guys making up the cost of buying gadgets and everything else?
Gazelle offers Amazon Gift cards.. it’s right on their homepage… nice reporting
I have used Nextworth in the past, and traded in a few of my old iPods. Their customer service was great, I got paid quickly, and received cash for old iPods that I was not using.
I now have an old GPS system, and I just went to their site to trade that in. I thought they only did iPods and iPhones. So glad to see they have added categories. I Immediately received a postage paid shipping label to send them in my GPS, and I am having the post office pick up my package at my house today. I highly recommend Nextworth!
This is really awesome. I’ve got a garage full of junk, I mean old electronic stuff. Now, they just need to get a facebook page and let customers buy and sell from it, if that is even possible?
By the way Flipswap also offers Amazon Gift Cards.
I’ve used Gazelle and Flipswap and my experience with Flipswap was much better. They offered a better price and if you chose to get a Amazon Gift Card you get even more $$ than opting for a check.
