I’ve always liked Sony’s hardware, but their SW makes their products unusable.

My earphones have no buttons.

But good call on the “iPhone sock”… except it’s more like Pull pocket inside out while struggling to get rubber-protected iPhone out of pocket for 3 minutes. (The reason I went sockless. And subsequently the reason i have a smashed touchscreen.)

While I agree that’s a pain in the ass, I have a suspicion that that’s part of Apple’s marketing plan. If you have to keep the iPod/iPhone out of your pocket, in the open, people know you’ve bought it and that you’re using it. If you can control everything from inside your jacket, no one knows it’s a cool-looking Apple gadget hooked up to your headphones.

I think you forgot a few steps:

1. take iphone out of pocket
->2. take iphone out of iphone sock
3. press “home/one” button
4. slide to unlock
5. enter passcode
->6. flick to the next screen (repeat this step till you get to the itune page”
7. open itunes
8. hit “now playing button”
9. press “next”

Or you can just use the button on the earphone:

1. press button once to skip to next song.
