So maybe the company/venture isn’t OK as the previously released company statement indicated. Now, a few months later, word hits that 2,000 peeps are about to lose their jobs due to decline sales.
These layoffs are part of a plan to bring the company back to profitability after seeing a 35% drop in phone shipments from last year. No word where the cuts will come from, or who they will effect, which must mean a lot is getting done around the ol’ Sony Ericsson HQ today. Everyone knows that when layoffs are announced on a Friday, productivity skyrockets.

I hope they keep going. I like SE phones. After having Motorola for a few years, I appreciate the SE user interface so much more. The phones also get better reception in my experience.
Matt, Ericsson NOT Ericsson pls ;)
SE phones have great feature sets, nearly every iPhone owner has the Shazam app (music recognition) SE walkman phones have had that build it for ~3-4 years, along with a lot of other great features. I hate to see them struggling to stay afloat.
