Yet another Fallout 3 DLC is coming our way. Available on May 5 for the PC and Xbox 360, Broken Steel takes place on Andrews Air Force Base, just outside the DC Wasteland proper. The level cap is being raised to 30, and there’ll be more guns, perks, enemies, etc. About what you’d expect, in other words.
Broken Steel also apparently removes the game’s ending, or doesn’t have an ending, something about an ending. I say apparently because I’ve yet to finish the original Fallout 3; I haven’t downloaded any DLC yet. (I spent 90 minutes last night getting the stupid T-51b Power Armor, only to discover that I needed special training in order to equip it. What a load of garbage. I’m not made of time, Bethesda, and 90 minutes playing the game for me might as well be 90 hours.) The DLC clocks in at around five hours of gameplay, plus bonus quests.
Observation: Playing Fallout 3 is like going to a job you hate—you do it because you have it.

Cool.
Ugh…I haven’t finished the original story either. And I agree with writer. From to time I turn back to FO3 to slog through it for no reason other than I own it, and feel some sort of guilt for not completing it. Its not a bad game, I just can’t devote my life to it as bethesda requires.
Where’s your alert for the Left4Dead DLC that came out today?
quigley, no Left4Dead dlc came out today. What the hell are you talking about?
oops, sorry, never mind.
your response exactly! information on it was hard to find- i only knew about it because i’d been anxiously awaiting for someone who knows how to know things (ie crunchgear) to let me know when it was coming. sadly, i find it a disappointment; meleeing zombies for-forever-er was part of the appeal of the game to me, wish they hadn’t tweaked it.
Why are you writing anything about this if you haven’t finished the game. Shouldn’t playing the games be a prerequisite to getting paid to writing about them?
It’s not like I’m reviewing the game, Steve. I’m not telling people to buy it or not, having already admitted that I didn’t finish it yet. Merely telling folks that a DLC is coming out soon. Thank you for your concern, and may God bless America.
Personally, I enjoy FO3. I enjoy the game play, and the entire open world of it. No, I have not finished it either. I have actually been trying to avoid the main quest because I saw the interview where Bethseda stated that FO3 would be different from there earlier RPG’s of Morrowwind and Oblivion, because of the fact that it has an ending.
Personally I was not a big fan of the fact that they have a level cap at 20, but this new bit of DLC will move that to 30, and open up the game so that it does not have a definite”ending”? To me? That makes it worth it. The world that they have created is enjoyable to return to, like a book.
If you enjoyed a book so much that you would not want it to end, would that not be worth it to you? Making basically your initial investment, along with this upcoming DLC pack, a game that you can return to for as long as you want.
I love FO3 and I also haven’t completed it yet. I have clocked in 140 hours plus! I just wanted to play through at my leisure discovering all locations and finding all 20 bobbleheads completing quests as I went. Its been great.
I downloaded the first dlc and completed it.
But I will have to beat it then before I download Broken Steel.
it will be better without an ending because then you can carry on playing even when you finished the story, i have completed the oringal and when you complete the main story thats it game over which upsets me abit because i perfer to carry on playing once i finished the main story
