Looks like Amazon is unloading some first-generation refurbished Kindles at $299, a so-so savings over a new second generation unit at $360.
As the resident cheapskate here at CrunchGear, even I would pony up the extra $60 for the newer version, but this refurb deal might be worth monitoring in the hopes that the price drops even more. At $269 or even $249, this would begin to look more and more enticing.
Not that the Kindle 2 is radically different from the original Kindle — it’s just soooo skinny and the battery lasts a bit longer.
Refurbished Amazon Kindle 1 [Amazon.com]
Thanks for sending this in, Michael.

As much as I drool over the Kindle (both K1 and K2), to buy a refurb’d K1 the price point would have to be closer to $100 for me.
Are you kidding me? $300 for a refurbished 1st generation Kindle? Damn Amazon, you’re only slightly ridiculous with these Kindle prices. You need some serious competition asap.
Seriously though, an iPod Touch, a by far much more remarkable device than the Kindle, should not cost LESS than a Kindle, let alone a refurbished first gen one.
And they said eink was going to be dirt cheap. Ha.
