This is the kind of weapon that is owned by a killing machine. It’s not an enthusiast weapon, and it’s not a hobby weapon. It’s a murder weapon. I see it being owned by someone like the main character in A History of Violence. He doesn’t want to use it, but god help us all if you make him.
That said, it’s really a wonderful piece of engineering and has the same sort terrifying and sublime design aesthetic as other expensive (it’s $1300) and deadly weapons.
For those of you out there planning something horrible with this thing (already?), consider this: when they find a bolt in the back of the guy who used to bully you in middle school, the first thing they’re going to do is look for a guy with a really expensive crossbow. 15 seconds isn’t a lot of time. There were plenty of murders back before we had guns, and they sure didn’t have anything as sophisticated as this. In Japan (where they pretty much have the strictest gun laws possible), they have had mass murders with knives, poison gas, cars, scooters, and any number of other implements. If a sick individual wants to kill people, outlawing one way of doing it isn’t going to stop them.

The ratio of accidental gun related deaths is about as high as ratio of accidental bath tub related deaths, and both are unmentionably low compared to the ratio of accidental car related deaths.
If we are going to regulate based on the possibility of disastrous accidental consequences, then nothing in this entire country kills more people that cars. Unless you are advocating that cars should all be taken off the road, then trying to argue that guns should be banned because of the potential for accidental death is intellectually dishonest.

Actually my father owned several crossbows during his life and several as sophisticated as this one or even more so.
He was NOT a “killing” machine other than the large game he hunted as a sportsman, you see he had only one usable arm and he wanted to be able to bow hunt as much like any hunter who had two arms.
The crossbow is a marvelous weapon for people who do not have the two arms needed for a regular compound bow and I am very glad he had the option of being able to use one to provide meat for his family to eat.
Yes, we ate what we were able to kill as in those days not everyone was rich enough to purchase cuts of meat from some store, many people had to hunt and fish to supplement the diets of their families.
Before you judge a weapon as being only for mass murder please be aware that they are not all designed for that purpose, the weapon can be misused just like anything else and the focus should be on the person who wants to purchase the weapon and only that.
You see for my father to OWN the weapon he had to undergo a barrage of tests and questions and also have a special license and state waiver allowing him to own and hunt with the crossbow.

This is a fine piece of engineering. You must remember these weapons, since stone-age man,have made it possible for benefits of survival, not just killing one another, it’s inception was for gathering of food, and protection from predators who would eat you as well as you eat them. “Man”, like you Martin”Da Killa” lost the true meaning . Power and greed made the reasons to kill one another with these highly refined weapons. Humans are destructive as much as they are inventive, it isn’t a joke to be taken lightly.

I saw a crossbow once, years ago, that had the power to not just hit the tree we fired it at, but the bolt became permanently lodged in the tree with only the very tip of the point sticking out the other side. That means, at the time, the bolt had to go through about twelve inches of tree.
The tree is still alive, but now, fifteen years later, you can barely see the entry point and nothing of the tip.

this isn’t actually $1300. the $1300 is for the crossbow add-on, you also need an ar-15 lower and a stock for the whole deal to work. doubtless, there are also some proprietary components that figure in, so the price would be at least $1000 more than the mentioned price.
it’s also pretty silly and something that you can easily do with a suppressed weapon for much cheaper.
frankly, though, i like guns because they are a fun hobby that has a tiny element of danger. anyone that buys guns to hunt or kill people is an asshole, which is a fact that probably doesn’t need much clarification.
This is also not the kind of weapon you would really use to defend yourself, at least not in a snap. Unless you meet up with a very patient burgler that is willing to wait for you to load up.
I have seen people use more traditional Crossbows for hunting. I can respect that, as long as the meat is used.

i think accidental deaths and intentional murder will decrease if gun control is enacted. children would no longer accidentally find guns. many people who would typically commit a murder with a gun would be less likely to kill with anything but a gun, thus decreasing the amount of murders. a gun is seen as easier and faster. if someone really wants to kill another person, gun control isn’t going to stop them. but with gun control, fewer spontaneous murders would occur, especially at the hands of younger citizens.
Actually, the vast majority of crimes of passion are committed with bare hands or knives. Look at the murder rate in a prison, and get back to me about how getting rid of guns lowers the murder rate.
You have to look at it like this: Back in the old days, when alcohol prohibition was enacted, putting iron bars between Americans and the thing Americans want the most ( liquor ), a whole new black market was created. Many more people died as a result of prohibition, because people thought that alcohol caused more harm than good.
People think guns cause more harm than good, and for the most part, they’re right. Guns are tools made to kill; whether it be people or animals, they were created to kill. But the fact is that many people are very sensitive to the issue. If guns were banned, it would become another situation similar to alcohol prohibition. You would have illegal gun shops spring up all around the country, people would manufacture makeshift guns ( possibly resulting in death due to a misunderstanding of the building of firearms ), and there would be general havoc.
History has shown that when you make something like that illegal, whether it be alcohol in the 20’s and 30’s, Guns, or even drugs, bad things happen. You create a market which brings even more destruction than was previously imagined.
The best thing to do is keep guns legal, but regulate their sale and require gun owners to go through mental and psychological exams to see if they’re fit to own a gun. That way it’s harder for psycho’s to legally get guns. Most of the time they’ll steal the guns anyway, but it’s a small deterrent without banning guns altogether.

Um, kay… you’re really dumb if you think someone would use a crossbow to kill someone. Crossbows are used for hunting elk, deer, etc and are fairly comparable to guns as far as that goes, which is why people use them over, say, a compound bow. But killing a person with one? Most likely not. Too hard to reload. A knife or a gun would be far more practical.

I would like to know the fps on that puppy. I Deer hunt with crossbow during archery season. the collapsible stock wont do much good but I like the AR15 lower. It looks safer and more reliable than a coventional crossbow. The scope looks like overkill since most crossbows are not accurate over 40yds. I would also like to know if it is available in Camo.
