The iTie has a pocket for your iPod

itieIf you have to wear a tie more than once a year, you might as well have a cool one. The iTie serves two functions: one, it has two little straps that attach to the buttons on your shirt so it doesn’t blow around, get dunked in your coffee, or, my personal favorite from when I used to wear a tie, get toothpaste all over it.

Second, it’s got a little pocket in it that can hold any crazy-ass thing you can fit in it — like an iPod, for example. Other items, according to the iTie website: business cards, credit cards, money, lighter/cigarettes, gum and mints, pens, and more.

They’re apparently working on a version with a pocket large enough to fit an iPhone or Blackberry. Sweet. Your tie is ringing, sir.

Pricing is around $50 and there are about a skillion different styles available. Yes, $50 is a lot for a tie but remember the part about the iPod and the no toothpaste thing.

  • What great nerd-attire! (and I mean that in a good way).

However, the toothpaste-saving straps have some competition… They are called tie-clips. Serve the same purpose, you don’t pay a premium of $15 or so per tie for them, and they work with just about any tie (I can’t verify their utility with bow ties, for example).

  • Yes, there are tie clips, tie pins, and tie bars. The iTie keeps the ENTIRE tie in perfect position, not just the pinned down portion. In addition, $50 is on the low range for ties, see Ferragamo ties at $270 (and it doesn’t stay in place or have a pocket).

  • This tie is the bomb! My business cards fit right in the pocket…perfect for conventions and sales calls.

  • I have to say that I do own some very expensive ties. I saw the itie featured on a Billy Mays video. My wife purchased one for me because I told her it was nice idea. I have to say the Itie is very innovative, and the quality of the tie is as good as the very high end ties in my collection. More importantly, it stays in place all day and doesnt get in my way. I give the itie “two thumbs up”.

  • I have noticed the Itie from a friend and was amazed with the idea. I purchased 3 itie’s and love the idea! The tie has a two great functions: 1 It stays in place and doesn’t get in your food, and 2 it has a concealed pocket which can hold your business cards! GREAT IDEA!

  • iTies are great! I’ve seen Joe wear them, and now I have one that I love. Everybody should have at least 1, if not 3. I listen to my mp3 player all the time, this is the best place to hang it!

  • This was orinally designed for Apple executives and lawyers

  • Thomas Pink came up with this concept in early 2006…hmmmm

  • Whie Tomas Pink did come up with a tie that had a pocket on the back for your iPod, the pocket was high up on the tie and DID NOT feature any means of attachment to your dress shirt. The iTie has this unique feature that will keep the ENTIRE tie in place. Tomas Pink did not, maybe thats why they no longer make it…not to mention, The iTie pocket is a patented addition and finished product.
