That Activision is looking to license music from the 1960s—plus Cuban, African and Soviet Union hits—can only mean one thing: the next Call of Duty will take place during the Vietnam War. (And what a fun war it was! Perhaps there will be an Escape from Saigon on a Helicopter, tail between your legs, quick time event?) Treyarch, of Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty 3, and all those Tony Hawk ports from the early 2000s fame, looks to be involved. You can almost hear the groans from the Internet.
This is all very exciting, and comes to us by way of one of That Videogame Blog’s reliable sources, not to be confused with CNN’s own Reliable Sources.
Keep in mind that Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for release this fall, so don’t expect this Vietnam-themed Call of Duty for quite some time.

In the interest of complete transparency, I originally had a photo of MASH up there, thinking that MASH was set during the Vietnam War. Steve Jabs, who is great, corrected me.
Not too be too much of a M*A*S*H troll but that show definitely takes place during the Korean war and has nothing to do with Vietnam.

Well, noone who saw the series during the seventies ever doubted it’s intention to critique the Vietnam war. In fact, Korea apparently isn’t mentioned once in the series..
